View Full Version : Nominate the March 2007 Subsim Skipper of the month

Time to nominate your choice for March 2007 Subsim Skipper of the month. Here's how it works:
Rules
1. You cannot nominate yourself.
2. You must have logged 50 or more posts to nominate someone. (For obvious reasons).
3. One nomination per person, please.
4. Once posted, you cannot change your nominee. Don't edit your nomination post.
5. You can and should shamelessly petition their case here, in this thread.
This will be partly a popularity contest, but also a reward for someone you think has been helpful, friendly, interesting, and overall a good Subsim guy.
Our judges will select the nominees with the best argued cases and run a poll for you to vote on the finalists. The winning Subsim Skipper of the month will receive a Trophy-sized Silent Hunter 4 war poster.
thanks
Neal

I nominate nattydread, but he has no bio, he has no information in addition to his post about tidbits of information about submarines in WWII and I nominate him mainly because he has cheered me up in waiting for SH4. He has been a member since Jan 2004 that equals three years or 37 months. Plus I discern that he is a humble soft mannered reader of submarine books that cares about sharing the information he has acquired. I don't even know where he is from, but that just makes it easier not to judge him. Here is his post about tidbits for WWII submarines. in case you missed it: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=105643
His love for submarines is quite evident to me and I hope you (the voters) will also see fit to vote for nattydread.

Onkel Neal,
I wish to make my nomimation for "SAILOR STEVE",
Who could argue with a "True Sailor". A man who has put to "Sea". A man who knows the perils that abound on that "Mighty Ocean", on a "Combat Ship". He knows, History, Rules of Engagement, Vast Knowledge of the Underseas Warfare, but can also physlologically can talk about life with the best them......He would make a Great Kapt. on any U-Boat .............

My vote is for none other than The Avon Lady - -knowledgable, famous for quick one-liners... well she's got my vote.

I think this should be renamed, "SHIII Skipper of the Month". :yep:
Perhaps, based simply on the arguments given by the numbers, we could find a way to spread out the voting process amongst the various sub-groups here at SubSim, otherwise, this isn't going to get much interest after this month from non-SH members...
Just my two cents, from the Other Sim...
And I nominate SeaQueen.
Cheers,
David

My nomination goes to JScones for dedication and all round top bloke , never said a bad word and doesnt get enough credit for what he has done for SH3 . SH4 is nearly out .

Neal, do the nominees have to make speeches this time?
I have an idea who I would like to nominate but it will be all the sweeter if he has to make a speech.:arrgh!:

Right, that's it.
I vote for Dowly, for stitching me up on TS.:p
That recording will never be aired because there will need to be so much censoring required.
My vote would have to be for Oneshot. He has rationalised the SCX install process by creating a new installer.

oh well....here we go again...
I'd say Dowly, since he created a keen interest for IL-2 Sturmovik in the ol' "Other Naval Games & All Kinds of Other Games" forum.........had some good laughs there and can't wait till I get to join his squadron:D

I'd like to nominate Danlisa. I had a problem downloading the new GWX patch and he helped me around the problem. It's good guys like that who help to make this forum what it is:up:

Luftwolf definately deserves this month for the updated LWAMI!:up::rock::rock::rock::arrgh!::arrgh!:
Torplexed!
i ll second that
I'd like to nominate Mush Martin
EDIT: Oops, I forgot we were supposed to argue for them!
MM has been a true ambassador of SubSim, making me most welcome since surfacing here not too long ago. Sometimes when I think my contributions go ignored MM has perked up and supported me. He has been a blessing to debate with and has a library of knowledge on the Canadian Forces as well as the Battle of the Atlantic. Mush Martin unequivocally deserves the title of Skipper of the Month.

I'll second that. For somebody who has just come on the scene he has made a very positve splash:up::up:
James T Kirk for saving the planet more than once.
Alright the real person will and always be Sailor Steve. A all round nice guy and if he comes to England drinks on me.

Okay, I forgive you, as a long time San Diego Chargers fan, you are forgiven ... Neal might vote for you, though ...
He loves the Oakland Raiders.
You've been nominated for sub sim skipper of the month ... be ready to give an acceptance speech if called upon to do so, that is.
Good luck mate ... :know:

Sailor Steve. For obvious reason....always has the correct answer or can find it if needed:up:. If Steve does not have the correct answer or can not find it, he is great at skirting around it:rotfl:

I'd like to nominate Sailor Steve for being a Subsim diehard despite his toils in the cursed real world. Go Steve!
Hmmm, I'm gonna go for Sailor Steve too! Not only for his sterling work in the forums, despite happenings in his life, but also for his excellant work in the courts as the defendant of a certain Dutchman who for legal reasons I cannot name.
Go Sailor Steve!!

But: My vote goes to......*drumroll*...Stabiz! Since there is no such thing as an Oscar for game movies, i think the "Subsim skipper of the month" -price would be a great tribute to an even greater film maker!

Steve has been nominated, so I would like to offer TteFAboB as skipper of the month. Recently, after a series of heated exchanges, he took a step back and resolved the conflict is a sensible, peaceable and private matter. This is a model of appropriate internet decorum and stands as an example for all members to follow.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments about some of the noteworthy members of the Subsim community. Nominations are now closed, voting will begin.
