Ok so im right infront of a large convoy and some of the ships show up on my map but when im looking through the scope some dont register with the target ID. I was looking at a Fiji Cruiser and it wasnt saying anything. But then i pressed the lock target button and it suddenly registered the ship as a Fiji Cruiser? Before it did that i could see very clearly that it was a cruiser even though it was comming at me striaght? Any thoughts on the matter?

Well, yes. If I'm submerged by a convoy and my sonar man detects say three of the lot, I hit the outside view key (.), I see just the three ships my sonar man has detected. This also happens with my scope and uzo. Not until you lock it and identify does it become a viable threat or target or both:o . So, when my sonar man detects all the ships then I can hit (.) and see them all and they register as merch or DD when listening at the sonar station. A noise is just a noise and a sighting is just a sighting until you identify it by locking or sonar man can identify.

Alternatively, if you have a plain U boat without reco drones and remote cameras (:D) you can classify them manually at the hydrophone station.

I classify those Sorties as "Morale-Boosting activities" for the men. It takes a healthy dose of Seamen to appreciate a naked woman or twelve...:nope:

Actually it is a review and study of the built-in floatation devices these women have. Some are augmented and make better floatation devices. For us men of the sea, we like to a set of floatation devices up close:roll:
