And you thought that the Balao was a state of the art sub in WWiii...

Oh dear... this is what happens when you let the marketing dept design game packaging, take a look at the SH4 logo displayed on the upcoming Super Collectors edition goodies, shown here on the medal but also proudly displayed on the notebook recognition manual and arm patch...

So I'll be hunting Japanese planes and submarines... with an atomic submarine...

This is getting good:sunny:.

Poor Japanese... first the USS Nimits, then a Typhoon class:damn:.

again, I am confused. I ordered through the amazon link which is supposed to support subsim.com, now is that this deluxe edtion, or is it a normal one w/o the recognition guide?

From what I understand so far ... there are three editions ...

The DE, deluxe edition, CE, collector's edition, SE, standard edition ...

I would say, you ordered the CE edition ... :yep:

Not sure, but definitely not the DE run. SH4 Deluxe Edition is only available from Ubisoft's store, period. All other editions are available from Ubi and other retailers.

Well foe US citizens there are 2 versions (kind of):
-The normal game with goodies
and as soon as these games are sold
-The normal game

For Europeans there are 3 versions:
-Normal Edition
-Collectors Edition
and
-Super Collectors Edition/Deluxe Edition

The normal edition with goodies from the US will be almost the same as the CE we get in Europe.
The DE will contain more than the CE and can only purchased on European Ubishops.

Cant you see? Thats for Silent Hunter 42! When I'm dead and gone, the Typhoon class will be about as modern as the Holland! :rotfl:

Well, that metal is really confusing... writing SH42 instead of SH4 (a fusion of SH2 and SH4?)

The metal on the left looks like a modern sub... with that kind of streamlined design

They should try to replace it... if they havn't reproduced it in factories yet...

Oh it may mean that... SH5 will be a modern subsim, which Typhoon class sub is included???

I don't think it means that. It's not only the medal, but the patch, and some of the covers like the rec manual too. SH 42 undoubtedly is meant to refer to 1942.

someone should get onto the marketing guys and get them to change it before it goes into production.

So the yanks jumped ahead with a toaster powered time machine to the 1980s and stole the worlds biggest and most powerful ballistic missile sub from the soviets to use against the japanise??

I guess it could happen

I've sent a pm to Ubi's "Audible Knight" about this hopefully they can catch it before the "ship" goes "down the ways".

All this talk is reminding me of that 70s movie where the Nimitz returns 30 years into the past ('the final countdown'?) and tries to avoid pearl harbour being bombed.

Yeah, thats the movie. Then there was the Japanese anime version, which was the same thing, except it was a JSDF Cruiser that went back in time before the Battle of Midway

Kirk Douglas in it is what made that movie worthwhile. Well, that and the Tomcats being fired on by the Zekes. I remember that movie being used kinda like a recruiting gimmick when I joined the Navy. Radioman recruiter gave me and my buddy program friend tickets.

It's not an entirely bad movie. Soundtrack sure is WEIRD.
