For the love of God, did you have to bring this one up. It was a normal day, no valentines mentioned (only once on the radio, but nothing big), and now you had to make a thread. :shifty:
To explain, I don't like Valentines. Too much capitalism involved and before you say it's in everything, I say some holidays have some "bigger" meaning behind them. Here they just mixed 2 different things and made it a holiday (yes, I know how Valentines came to be, our English teacher gives out holiday description every year and Valentines in always on the list).
I will say no more.

 Misery guts.
We had a nice night at home by cooking a roast chicken with roast vegies for dinner followed by a toffee pudding with lashings of thick cream. That should anger the health freaks. :smug: Just a quiet romantic night at home really.

hehe, why do guys love this holiday so much? My least favorite day. Honestly, I'm always in the dog house for a week or so after. :o
I've got it down to an art.

Yes, I totally agree :x
I'm all the more bitter since in all my 22 years not one nice thing came out of this holiday - unlike most other popular/capitalist holidays, even. Well, today one thing did - my class got cancelled and I got to sleep in :smug:

Well, I did have one memorable Valentines. It was a Tuesday, and Tuesday was game night, so I went to the hobby shop where we always played, took a quick look to see if there was anything new I wanted to buy, and headed home again. When I got there my wife's mother was there. My wife said "What are you doing here"? I replied "You didn't really think I was going to go play games on Valentine's Day, did you?"
My mother-in-law immediately said "Do you want me to take the kids for the night?" My wife said, even more quickly, "Yes, please!"
It was a good night.
Had a great valintines day as usally, I spent it alone home with a couple of bottles of beer...

I hate valentines, but hey, it and my birthdaay are the only times when my fair lady is actually happy to do the cooking! AND the cleaning :yep:

You actually manage to convince her to cook on Valentines?

I cook most days, in fact any day she deigns not to spend at her parents. So, she thinks its a nice little touch for her to cook. Shame that she's not that great with variety...:rotfl:
What she does she does perfectly, but there is very little the she does/

I just gave my wife to be a back scatch for two hours and did some tidying up for her. She didn't want flowers (I was tempted!) When the next valentines comes around we will be married. I'm already planing to cook her a meal and clean the house, while she soaks in the bath, eating chocolate!;)

dayum, bookworm, that'll get you places!
She gets a single red rose* every valentines since we've been together, though this year she's been hankering for blue roses which are expensive (read: waste of time heheh).
iirc the Japanese have the right idea about giving peeps flowers- bit of an insult giving someone something that is going to die so quickly.
Still, she got to put her feet up and eat Belgian chocolate truffles whilst I made my signature spag-bol and wine meal. I say 'signature' to hide the fact that apart from a roast, it's the only thing I'm any good at cooking :lol:
* apart from the year she got a carnation instead.... I was in a hurry that lunchtime and being the sort of bloke who regards flowers as something that other people know about, how was I to know the difference between a carnation and a rose who's flower had not opened?! :rotfl::oops::oops::oops:
Well, I know now, and am often reminded by her in polite company at every oppertunity designed to cause me maximum discomfort :damn:

Steve, that was one hell of a Valentines story. The only "good" one I ever read.
Otherwise, Valentines still sucks...

Any special/religious/romantic or whatever day will nowadays be hijacked by commerce.
I don't have much with Valentine Day, but nevertheles I bought a bouquet of roses for my girlfriend; she more than deserves a bit of attention every now and then...

:rotfl: at least they're consistent with hating everything and everyone 'not like them' which is more than you can say for some of our politicians these days.
OMG Behead those who insult St. Valentine!!!!!!! lmfao

Nice, burning valentines. Now why didn't I think of that? ;)
And what do ya' know. I got a valentines card as my school has a service that delivers these notes. Because I had a "sports day" yesterday, I couldn't get it untill today. Another phoney. Last year I got 2; one from my own class mates (they were trying for defrost me a bit) and a fake one from another class). When I find out who did this years, their head will role.

:rotfl: They are probably right. I guess Valentines Day is unislamic.

Even Valentine's Day manages to get itself intertwined with politics on this forum! :D
Well the wife and I spent Valentines day in a hotel, unfortunately my hotel was in Scotland and hers was in London.
Never mind, I had a nice romantic meal with oysters, wine and a Clive Cussler book
But look where consistency and principles will take you... :hmm:
Yeah I know, bummer huh?:lol:
