View Full Version : Despite being a rich country, the UK is failing children and young people
UK comes bottom of child well-being table (http://www.itv.com/news/index_25a6031b47f5b1ed2bffbbba7142437f.html)
Once again Tony Blair's smoke and mirrors comes crashing down caught out twisting the facts to make this Government look good. Does Tony Blair have any idea what's going on in this country? No, due to all the yes men and spin doctor's he has around him.

Gee...I used to like Britain. I get such a dark impression from reading this forum. Isn't there anything nice to say about the place anymore? Can I still buy a nice Cadbury from a vending machine in the London Underground?

Sorry to rain on the party guys but you might find those vending machines out of stock due to Cadbury and it's Easter egg recall (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6349199.stm). :rotfl: :rotfl:
By the way despite this bad news it is not all doom and gloom in the United Kingdom. :sunny:

I am so angry with Westminster, the BS that comes out of that place is a disgrace and all the PC clap trap as well and so on. People of England if you sit there and let this crap continual then this country is finished. Rise up against the corruption and let's get the Great back into Great Britain.

I cant even buy chocolate bars and soft drinks from school anymore because of that <expletive> fat lipped son of a moose Jamie Oliver. Who the hell is he to say what I spend my money on and what I eat? I'd trust a chocolate bar a damn sight more than the canteen food! :stare:

I think I'll make a chart too. I'll call it "LoBlo's-Chart-of-Manipulating-Construed-Stats"...
... really though, how can anyone distinguish whether what these people are saying is good or garbage if there's no presentation of the actual data in the article?

Here's a source with raw data & methodology.
The original report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/nol/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/13_02_07_nn_unicef.pdf
Wow, who thought the BBC would provide adequate reporting? :)
Well, I'll thank STEED for posting a marginally better source than the Daily Mail or the Sun

Ahhh..
Socialist agendas and their polls.
As proof, I'll direct you here: http://www.madcowssteakhouse.com/viewtopic.php?t=15833
This was brought as proof (against US "child poverty") based on a the same report.
Cuba (https://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/cu.html)
Infant mortality rate:
total: 6.22 deaths/1,000 live births
male: 6.99 deaths/1,000 live births
female: 5.41 deaths/1,000 live births (2006 est.)
United States (https://www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html)
Infant mortality rate:
total: 6.43 deaths/1,000 live births
male: 7.09 deaths/1,000 live births
female: 5.74 deaths/1,000 live births (2006 est.)
I guess that's why so many Cubans flee Cuba for the US.

And guess once in which country children feel the best...
:D
ITV is very tabloid.
Unlike the BBC who are fighting a case in court. ;)
BBC= Cover Up.
BBC mounts court fight to keep 'critical' report secret
The BBC has spent thousands of pounds of licence payers' money trying to block the release of a report which is believed to be highly critical / The corporation is mounting a landmark High Court action to prevent the release of The Balen Report under the Freedom of Information Act.

Cadbury eggs rule.
The Japanese have mandatory PE classes all the way through their school system. The actual education system sucks, but I have heard their PE program is top notch. I don't know if they just sic the dogs on them and whoever lives, lives, and whoever doesn't, doesn't. Private schools might work different. Plus there's all the inbreeding. I'm not saying Japan is perfect, I'm just saying I have heard they keep their kids in shape by running them around the block a few times per day. Maybe Britain needs some kind of mandatory physical program? God knows America does -- not only school, but corporate-required biannual fitness tests as well.
Personally, I blame Bush.
The most entertaining thing about it is, that rhe U.S comes 20th behind the U.K in those tables :rotfl:
