View Full Version : Wide screen monitor blues
OK so I bought a 22" Mirai TFT at a good price of £200, searched subsim and found all the threads on the resloution fix (widescreen) down loaded and extracted it (followed all the instructions then i launch the game (GWX) and Starforce tells me an error occured the sh3.exe has been modified or contains a virus. I reistall the game - deleting all the folders in program files - same problem. :damn: :damn:
So I have since done a complete reinstall of my OS, (as i had other problems anyway) now all is well. What should i do this time round to avoid the same problems? It is even worth the risk?
Does the game actually run in 1440x900? or will it still be the standard 1200x1024, if it remains the latter then i wont bother.

While the d3d9.dll hack will allow widescreen resolutions, a 22" widescreen typically has a native resolution of 1680x1050. LCDs really are at their best in their native resolutions, just something to keep in mind. Also, even with the d3d9.dll hack applied and a 16:10 aspect ratio resolution set, you're still going to get a distorted result (oval periscope view, oval dials, short and wide crew members etc). Unfortunately even with great hardware scaling support, the image is stretched, period. This is why it's important for developers to build in true widescreen support into their products. You may find the distortion is something you're willing to deal with, others find it dissapointing. If you're using the hack to scale the image within it's native 1024x768 4:3 aspect ratio (ie: up to say 1152x864 or 1600x1200) on a 4:3 LCD, the results are much better than on a 16:10 widescreen LCD.

short and wide crew members
There is an easy fix for that problem: Jenny Craig and the rack.
