Hello all, :|\\

I relly wish that SOMEONE would produce a ACW sub sim and that Ubisoft or thereabouts would procure a WWI subsim along the vein of SH III/IV.

Thanks for reading this.

I'm also waiting for a Kaiten sim or X-craft sim. Silent Hunter V: Gone with the Bang?

I've read a book on the series of attempt on Tirpitz's life and there's a chapter on the attack of the x-crafts. Three midget subs, or x-crafts, were sent. One was lost. Two managed to lay charges under the Tirpitz before their crew, a total of six, were captured. Their captors noted their fidgetness. They were especially anxious to get as far away from the ship as possible. The Germans had a thorough search of the ship but found nothing. When the bombs finally went off and heavily damaged the Tirpitz, the crew cannot help but let out cries of joy, much to their captor's dismay, no doubt. They were treated well by the Germans. Two VC won.

Good stuff for comedy, I'd say. :arrgh!:

Can't see that as being a very exciting game, though WWI -- now that's another story.

A hunley sub-sim? SH3-style? How much detail should be simulated? What stations? Different weapon systems? Crew management? Sensors? ...etc.pp. Dynamic campaign with realistic historic setting? http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_rofl.gif

I wish there was a game, kinda like Civilisation, where you could develop new weapons (you sort of could in Civilisation I played the original 15 years ago) and upset the balance of power. Not a sim though. :smug:

Hello all, :|\\

It is I once more.

The idea of an American Civil War subsim is based on the "bible of civil war subs":
Submarine warfare in the Civil War by Mark K. Ragan.
The color picture above depicts Mr. Ragan, as HE decided to revisit the Hunley and I believe raise it. I could be wrong.

What IS wrong with a Civil War era sub sim?
What IS wrong with WWI sub simmers by NOT pushing for a worthwhile sim?

Both are EXCELLENT eras for sub warfare, albeit perhaps not ultra-exciting but it's history. So the story goes.

Besides, my parents are immigrants, I have ZERO to do with this country's founding and it's stupid and pointless Civil War.
However, I love Americans, of which I too am.
I don't like nor trust the American Government though.
Why?
I. Violently acquired land from and dispossessed Native American nations
II. Broke every treaty w/Indian nations
III. American revolution was for Rich, White land-owning "Americans" essentially
IV. Governmental scandals and Intn'l intrigues ever since then
V. George Bush Regime
Goodnight America and all the ships at sea. :|\\
By the way, I still love sub simmies!

I don't think a (realistic) simulation of hunley would be fun to play.

How often had she even sunk before her famous patrol? Basicly everytime.

Interior Graphics: a rusty steel wand
only mark eyeball-sensors, no periscope, only very small lookouts (no zoom)
no navmap!!!!, no torpedos. etc.

The principle would basicly be: try to ram a ship with a steelpipe without the help of a navigation map.
shallow water ops only (basicly only harbor action)

A hunley sub-sim? SH3-style? How much detail should be simulated? What stations? At least those wishing to have all the various compartments of their sub modeled would have that wish satisfied. :)

Come to think of it, I would like a sim with SHIV graphics that simulates the Turtle. Just think, we can pedal our way to a ship and try to attach a bomb underneath it. After a long time of failed attempts to get the screw to pierce the underside of a ship because of metal protection, we can go back to port exhausted. Sounds like fun to me!:arrgh!:
