"Camera out of Sectors" - Error Message

I currently have 3 GWX careers underway - a VIIB, a IXB, and a XXI (using Cmdr Gibbs method of "type XXI in 1939"). My problem is with the "." camera.
It always works fine in the XXI career. It works fine the 1st time I use it in a patrol in the VII and IX careers - and then it goes insane, bounces up and down just showing empty water with the message "camera out of sectors" in little white letters. If I continue trying to use the camera at that point I usually get a CTD. Weirdness is that this never malfunctions in the XXI career.

I have an Athlon 3200+, 2 gigs of RAM, and a 128 meg nVidia card (older 4200).

Hi mate!
If i understand you correct; This is a stock bug, and it appears when you are using the external cam on land based units (IE in ports; land based cannons etc). I dunno if there is a fix for this, but i strongly doubt it..:shifty:

I've gotten that message, but normally only if I raise the elevation of the camera very high trying to get a 'bird's-eye view' from above.

One thing I wish existed was a camera reset ability: an option or command to reset the camera POV back to the start-up default orientation and location. There are times I've been maneuvering the external camera and buggered it all up and can't seem to manually re-orient it back to a useable configuration.:oops:

Could this be happening while using the Free Roam option from within your boat. IIRC Shift+F2.

If you go too far 'out of bounds' then you will get this message.

The only option is to back up straight away. There maybe a limit, go too far and you may well have to reload from a previous save.

This has been brought to light a few times, some players experience it, some don't.

It usually occurs when you are viewing a ship/aircraft and that particular vehicle either goes out of your (game) viewable range or is destroyed while you're still watching it.

The only solution is to return to your boat, save and reload.
