i came accross a large convoy. and lined myself up for an attack, i took a huge risk as the water was only 50m deep, it was day and clear weather :nope: but what the hell. i immediatly noticed a lot of the ships were sitting low in the water with their sterns pretty much underwater same for the DD`s too:-? they didnt look like they had already been attacked because they were not damaged in any way. funny thing was coz the DC launchers on the DD`s were underwater they kept passing over me but not launching any DC at me :rotfl: so i had a field day. all the ships were either large merchants or pyros oh there was also some sort of cruiser that was 10.000tons i eventually sunk 150k tons of shipping and not one DC came down on me at all :smug: the only damage i took was when i raised my periscope but even then it was minor. i dont think ill ever have such a good patrol even though luck was on my side

Always when I return from a patrol and go on fumes back into Kiel I always find all the ships in port half-sunk like you describe here, and also they have that sort of screaming sound comming from them as if they were actually sinking.

Yesterday night I was approaching a convoy. Night attack, submerged. I crept into the middle and saw slow coming light cruiser (occured to be Fiji Class), so started to prepare my attack against her, dropping other targets that I spotted earlier.

Before I launched any torpedoes, I heard this dready noise of ship sinking... Very close, very loud. "Lemme think... What the hell? Do we have a wolfpack here? A ship sinking? Cannot be...". And then my periscope went under the water. "What the hell, again?!". I turned it fast around me and saw a large cargo scratching her bow on me and making this horrible noise just a few metres from the place I stood by the scope... :rotfl: Luckily - no damage. I was pushed a few metres down and my heart was hitting like mad. I was affraid of loosing my target, and, what's even worse, I could get detected too soon. But all went well, Fiji went down, convoy went east, we went up and breathed like we've never seen the air before.

Jim, my condolences exactly. :yep: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It sounds like the DDs had theirs filled. Must be Bernard's English cousin Shifty might have passed on some bad vitals to the crews. Seems they loaded their sterns. Next time maybe they can play fart football and refloat them.

Hey, Moon -- wait 'til your next patrol. You've probably used up all the luck allowed by BDU.

:hmm: You know Moon, come to think of it, there's a part of a ship called a Poop deck. So no need to load yer boots or drawers. Next time you get that irristable urge, pay it a visit. ;)
