Decided to just make a thread out of this. We should probably decide now, before the game hits the shelves. Does Bernard make the transfer to the US Navy or do we have a new recruit? I vote Parker.

Well, I don't like Dinsdale because it's too English sounding. Bernard has his roots in SH3 and it wouldn't be right to move him to the Pacific, imo. I picked George, he has the mental image of a big dumb roly-poly bumbling inept fool. You know...like Bernard. :rotfl:

Dident he have a brother, Bernard

sort of like "Hi, I am larry,, and this is my brother Larry, and my other brother larry."

If not,,, thenKilroy sounds great by me!

Ya, Ya, Bernard Ensign Parker, does it really matter?
My question is where is the red triangle??;):/\\k:

Of course I voted for Parker, because I first suggested him a long time ago. That said, George isn't bad. Dinsdale is British. Kilroy was too cool to be stupid; after all, he was everywhere in the war.

It should be a last name, since all US sailors have their last names stencilled on their shirts and are always called by last names.

In that case:
1. Jackson
2. Buckman
3. Lovacelli
4. Parker
5. Sylversterson
Pick one....
Oh, wait, you already did...:rotfl:

Seaman Buckman (http://imdb.com/name/nm0132637/): [tasting contents of can] What's the matter sir? It still tastes like creamed corn.
Executive Officer Martin T. 'Marty' Pascal (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001705/): Except it's - DEVILED HAM!
Seaman Buckman (http://imdb.com/name/nm0132637/): Now that would be a problem.

Actually... Parker is good... Used to work with a Parker... "Stupid Fat Parker! Get in that Torpedo Tube!!!"... Not that he was/is stupid and fat. Just that he called everything "Stupid Fat _______" thus, this became his moniker.. :hmm:

I was considering something from Down Periscope. That movie was the greatest, especially when they disguised the boat as a fishing vessel. Q-Boat, anyone;)?

Bernard has done a fantastic job at getting me into all sorts of bother. He should be sent on a top secret mission to join the US Navy:arrgh!:. Any volunteeers to drop him off at New York:lol:

Parker also belongs in the Pacific.

Bernard needs to hang out in the Channel where he belongs!;)

Got to be Parker...he was the perfect screw up. Even when he did something right,it was because he accidentaly did something right.

I believe Bernard was chosen as the doofus due to the fact that there was a bernard charactor in the sh3 game. It seems a bit silly to choose a name for the US Doofus before we get the game and find out if there is a parker, dinsdale ect in the game.

Sailor Steve
02-08-07, 11:26 AM
How exactly was there a "Bernard character" in the game? Dowly gave his screenshot that name for reasons of his own; he may have even picked it at random. Personally I think the whole thing is silly anyway; I suggested Parker because I hate Dinsdale (but not because he's British).

There is a crew member named bernard as one of the officers or sailors you can assign, first I remember seeing it referenced, was in a patrol log written as a story.

so I just made the connection, I could be wrong.

My vote goes to Gilligan btw...

Every navy has it's Bernard. I think Bernard should stay. Although "Scooter" could be a good one!

Gilligan, now there was a NUT and a goofus. :rotfl: Would have voted for him if he were on the list. Heck he's even got experience in ship wrecks. :arrgh!:

Speaking of goofs wasn't it the "Pink Submarine" where they sunk a truck on the BEACH with a torpedo? :rotfl: Who fired that one ??

Yes, that's the exact name.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053143/
The movie was made in 1959, however, and the line was "let's get the hell out of here".

Be sure and read the other quotes from the site. There are a lot of good ones.
