Ok - wasted a couple of hours getting to the assigned grid - re-clicking the time compression to 1024 everytime something's spotted but too far to chase after - wasted another one zigzagging through the grid - over like 3 days (Patrol objective was to patrol for 24 hrs). Didn't come across anything - so decided to go get me something close to the British coast - all I got was a nasty little patrol boat - too fast and too small to engage by a torpedo - tried and got close - by that time I was desperate to hit anything - even a friendly unit. So I surfaced - hoping to man a deck gun to blow that f. annoying thing out od the water, but the sees were stormy so that was out of the question - by that time they damaged me a bit so I had to dive and time-compress back to St. Nazaire like a loser with nothing to show for and 3 cigars left - after arriving to the same dock I left from - nothing happened - I expected some message to say patrol completed and refueling and repair.
What did I do or not do ???
Also, my GWX has frame rate problems sometimes with 2.8 GHz, 1 gig RAM and 512 Meg NVidia 7600 - well above the recommended - any thoughts ??? No problems with vanilla before ?
Thanks guys...

it is odd that you returned to the same base and it only offered you refuel and repair, it didnt say dock at?

Well, as per the manual:
3.4.5 Returning from patrol
There are two modes you can return to base from patrol in career mode.
- real navigation
- pressing ESC during the patrol in following conditions:
a. u-boat is at surface
b. no enemy unit has the u-boat visible on sensors
Using the ESC return will automatically return the u-boat in the
Flotilla base.
3.4.6 Patrol Completion
A patrol is considered complete only when you return to your Flotilla
base.
You have the possibility to dock at any friendly port during a patrol.
This will repair any damage you may have received during the patrol, will
automatically ressuply you with fuel and weapons and you will have the
possibility to enlist new crew to complete the eventual casualties.
You will not be allowed to upgrade any subsystem or change your u-
boat, you will not receive any rewards (medals, promotions or qualifications)
and your patrol will not be considered completed.
When I went all the way back to the port I left from - same dock at St. Nazaire you leave from with the band playing etc. - nothing happened - I came in hard - hit the wall - generated some more damage and all I heard was my officers repeating "we have hull damage" etc...
Welcome aboard!
When you return to the "music" dock, press Esc. On the lower right hand corner you get to options: Continue patrol--Dock at XXX. Select dock at.
Try not bang up the boat, Uncle Karl doesn't like it :rotfl: :rotfl:

As a reminder, to get the "Dock at xxx" option, you need to be within 25k of base. At a milkcow, I think you need to be around 3-5k.
If you return to port without using the "Dock at" option, you'll lose any renown gained in your last patrol.

Hi,
A few more words about the lake of targets :
Well, sometimes, we must admit we can loose ;) Usually, i complete my patrol grid (24h) then i plot a course near some "known" area. Almost at each time, i see some good targets, but not always ..
It would be great that the game send us radio orders more specific than some contact reports to go in .. ( Don't know if it's clear, if not, forgive me please :hmm: )
GWX rocks

If your frame rate issues are in harbour you can always enable the lite traffic mod
