On my patrol got a message on a convoy, so went to intercept it. Lovely weather - overcast, fog and no rain, quite heavy seas. Visibility - few hundred metres for my crew, not much more for me myself. Decided to do it the risky way - night surface attack.

Approaching... approaching... BLACK SWAN!!! "Ship spotted!"... She was too close to dive, would kill me with the very first attack run... "Full Back! Rudder 5 degrees left! Man the deck gun! Fire at will!" I shouted immediately while watching the Black Swan. And after the first shot she went down straight ahead. Big boom and that's all.

We felt cocky and lucky. Made big noise (by sinking a large cargo with deck gun) to attract all the escorts... And they were coming in a line: another Black Swan, a Flower Class and finally the destroyer, Hunt I Class. Sunk with our deck gun, only the smallest frigate managed to spot us before sinking and fired, but the damage wasn't big.

And after that the unescorted convoy was ours. None of the 18 ships made it to home. Not even 1 survivor could tell the world what happened. Report - my current career in the sig.

PS After that Goebbels decided to spread some rumour about Bermuda Triangle and UFO-s. Some believe it till today.

Well well well, seems like someone tweaked the deck gun settings to also work in heavy seas :-)

And BTW. It's not your objective to sink the escorts but in this case since you eradicated the whole convoy I'm sure nobody will hold it against you :)

No, _never_. I'm a fanatic 101% realism player and I don't 'tweak' anything. :> [a small duel, maybe? ;)] The sea was a bit heavy, but I think the wid was still under 10 mps... I'd never make a surface approach, if I wasn't able to use my deck gun. Uff... That would really hurt.

Seems I always get the high winds with the high waves. Everytime I have bad weather I can't use the deck guns in GWX :(
