Just saw a close up view of the box art and noticed that the sub has the number 298 on the bow. (Which is historically inaccurate, by the way. To the best of my knowledge, all identifying marks were removed from US subs during the war)

Anyway, that makes the sub depicted the USS Lionfish, which is, as we speak, on public display at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts along with the Battleship USS Massachusetts and the Destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy.

Just thought I would mention it... :smug:

The artist who was commissioned to render the box art probably did what a lot of commercial artists do. He found a reference model...or perhaps in this case....built one. ;) Number 298 plainly on the bow.
