whats wrong with bmps? make them any size
whats wrong with bmps? make them any size
As fas as I know bmps are a lot bigger as jpgs I think....for those having a fast DSL connection or faster it would be no problem at all...but keep in mind that not all have such a fast connection and for them it would take a while til the bmps are shown when they open the thread.....I think that´s the main reason for jpgs instead of bmps.
Just my piece of thought to that.

:o ya mean 56k still exsits
:o ya mean 56k still exsits
I think not all have faster connections than DSL 2000 .....for me it would be no problem cause have 6000 and change to 16000 in 1 month.
But surely there are some people out there who have only 56K or max 64k/128k ISDN.....and if u know someone with just the normal DSL 1000 flat then try to open this post the first time......and it will take seconds too til u can see the pics.
The difference....a 640x480 pix bmp-picture is about 1mb in 24bit mode....a jpg with the same pix and with same size has about 140 kb max in most cases...depends on some things....but all in all jpgs are mostly up to 9/10 smaller than bmps.

Yes, quite a few people still have 56k or ISDN, for them it takes more than 10 minutes to load all of your pictures. JPG´s would be more than 90% smaller in file size.

Intersting i can make bmps even tiny like this
http://home.comcast.net/~codmander/images/one.bmp
its so much easyier to use bmp here but i will try to switch them to jpg if i post any pics again

So u can make it tiny like this?....hm why I have had to wait 5-6 seconds til I have seen the pics from u as I´ve opened the thread.
My "poor connection" can´t have been the reason for this.....so I think your pics are large....so in the last post u made them tiny....but look at the size of the shown pic lol (especially when your windows screenresolution is high)....Even with good eyes then u have to get 2cm thick glasses to see all the things on the pic :-p.
Bmps maybe a lot easier to post....cause mostly no convert to jpg is needed (thats just the only advantage of the bmps) ....but jpg is best for the community at all....reasons had been already named by facts ;)
