I don't like repeating what others might have done already and I did read other posts on guiding newbies / noobs on how to properly install all that is needed to run GWX / SH3 Cmdr combo with other GWX-compatible mods. But i'm still confused and I see that others are as well. Can you guys confirm for me that this is the proper order and instructions to follow:

1. Install the 1.4b patch - do I run it from the SH3 dir ??? Restart after ???

2. Install JGSME as per install directions ??? Restart after ???

3. Install the GWX using the GWX.exe and the bin files directly from the from the SH3 dir ???

4. Install SH3Cmdr

5. And other GWX-compatible mods using JGSME ???

Yes, you got it mostly correct. JSGME is included in GWX, no need to do a separate install. No need to run that patch from the dir. It will find its way by it self, i think.. No need to restart between installs. Hope this helps, mate!

Maybe now the new SHCommander come with the GWX cfg.files added in, at the GWX launch they were not and had to be added in via a seperate d\l.

Anybody know if this is still the case.

Hi

1: Just execute the file where ever it is. IT finds your install.
2: JGSME is in the gamefolder it self from the beginning.
3: Make sure you have all GWXfiles in the same folder of your choise. Then execute the GWX.exe and it runs by auto.
4: I have SH Com. in a seprate folder. You then start SHIII/GWX with SH Com.
5: You have to have "7-Zip File Manager-program" to unzip most mods. You unzip the mods to the "mods"-folder under the SHIII directory. Open JGSME and enable the mod.

Good Luck!

1. Ok - so patch 1.4b, GWX/JGSME

2. SH3Cmdr ver. 2.6

3. Followed by the GWX cfg files for the SH3Cmdr ??? Does this go into the C drive or the drive where the software is installed ???

4. If all goes well - I should have the GWX running over the vanilla

5. How do I run the SH3 on top of that ???

7-zip file manager program ???
7z.exe (you can download this from Sourceforge.net project site (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=14481)). Quite easy to use, similar to WinZIP.

2. SH3Cmdr ver. 2.6
Get 2.7. (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products/SH3Cmdr27.exe)

3. Followed by the GWX cfg files for the SH3Cmdr ??? Does this go into the C drive or the drive where the software is installed ???
I can't understand your question. Have a look at the GWX Manual - you have installing SH3 Commander described there easy way.

5. How do I run the SH3 on top of that ???
Just run the .exe file and you'll see. It's unbelievably easy.

Read manuals! :)

No the GWX specific files arent and wont be included in SH3commander as they can only be used in GWX
As SH3commander is used with all install types they will remain a seperate addition

I know I'm repeating much of the information already provided to you above. But for the sake of having it all in one place:

1. Install SH3 (obviously):)

2. Install the 1.4b patch
---- You can run it from anywhere.
---- NOTE: The install screen will say it is version 1.3, but it really is 1.4 (little oversight by the developers).

2. Install GWX by:
2A. Putting all of the GWX.bin files and the GWX.exe file in the same folder. Any folder will do as long as they're all in the same one.
2b. Then run GWX.exe
NOTE: JSGME will be installed by the GWX installation, there is no need to install it seperately.

3. Install the Dec 23rd GWX fix by:
3A. Unzipping the GWX_-_Dec23rd_Corrections.7z file to your \SilentHunterIII\MODS folder. This should create a "Dec 23rd Corrections" subfolder under the \SilentHunterIII\MODS folder (If not, you've unzipped it to the wrong place)
3B. Run JSGME.exe (You will find it in your \SilentHunterIII folder, just double click on it).
3C. Enable the Dec 23rd Corrections fix, by highlighting it in the window on the left side, then click the Right Arrow. This will move it to the window on the right side (which indicates that it is enabled). You can also enable any of the other mods that come with GWX at this point, by repeating this step for them too. Exit JSGME.

4. Run GWX once. You don't have to play a game, just start it up and then exit. This will create the SH3 save game directory structures (Which SH3 Commander will want for some things).

5. Install SH3 Commander 2.7 (2.6 works too, but no reason not to use 2.7)
NOTE: Do not install the optional Combined Skin Pack.

6. Add the GWX specific configuration files to SH3 Commander by:
6A. Unzipping GWXCfg4SH3Cmdr.zip to the \SH3 Commander\Cfg folder. This will replace 4 of the files with GWX-compatible versions. (Again, if you don't see that those files have been replaced you have unzipped it to the wrong place).
NOTE: Back this folder up first, if you think you might want to ever run stock SH3 or some other supermod through SH3 Commander.

7. Run SH3 Commander, pick your options , press "Launch SH3". (If launching a new career make sure that you pick the same captain, date and flotilla that you picked in SH3 Commander within SH3 as well). Enjoy.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
A.) Do not enable or disable a mod unless you are in port. (Technically, mods that just change things like .tga files can be done while on patrol, but if you are not ABSOLUTELY sure, spare yourself the grief and wait till you are back in port).
B.) Remember to Rollback SH3 Commander if you ever want to:
-- Enable or Disable any mods
-- Install/Uninstall SH3 Commander or SH3 itself
C.) Do not save a game while near a port, a ship or while submerged.

Note that all GWX files, and the GWX configuration files for SH3 Commander, are available at:
http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/
SH3 Commander is available at:
