Howzit mates!

Just spent two hours real time, about two weeks game time, in the exact same no-visibility weather - is this normal? Is there a time compression bug, maybe like crew fatigue, that stops the weather changing when you're above 32x? Wandering around not being able to see in front of my face, much less intercept convoys or lone ships, is about as fun as watching paint dry on a humid day...

Cheers

I wouldn't call it a feature, actually, but also not a bug. It's that the weather was not too good engineered, but as it is hardcoded there is nothing modders could do about it. So we have to live with that. Buy yourself a very good antistorm jacket and learn to enjoy bad weather! :)

The weather in SH3 does not change like the weather. :D Sometimes you get weeks of calm seas:up: It is a give and take;)

Hmm... Actually it would be a bit hard to find a "Polish harbour" nowadays, wouldn't it?

PS. Of course I mean 1939-1945. :P BTW, what is that handball? :)

1) Poland won with Denmark...
2) It's true the weather is hardcoded end it's model is here to stay
3) The Atlantic is mean men! I crossed it once...

So put on your raincoat boss, and plow ahead!

Sorry, Morts... There was nothing I could do about it. Was too far away to torpedo our handball team before the play... And none of them was actually at sea...

As to the weather model, writing that "there is nothing modders can do about it" I meant, that there never should be a heavy rain and heavy fog at the same time, but this cannot be changed as far as we - SubSim folks - know.

I hate lousy weather, hate it, hate it, hate it. But the escorts hate it even more. And nothing worse than clear day, glassy seas and 3 escorts converging on you. I hate good weather, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. :/\\!!

Very true. Once, after I had attacked a convoy in rough weather, one of the escorts started firing starshells to illuminate the area. The sea was rough and was washing over the escorts deck, then all of a sudden it blew up and sank! They also find it more difficult to detect you in rough seas.

Bad weather can be your friend. You have to learn how to work with it and not against it.

Eh, I guess it's just me but I don't get all these "I hate the weather" threads. In our favorite movie Das Boot the weather was bad for like weeks if not a month. We all still seem to like the film. And there's lots of historical evidence of week after week after week of awful weather in the North Atlantic.

My problem with the weather is it's not regionally specific. You shouldn't be getting week after week after week of harsh weather in the Carib, but in the North Atlantic that's the norm.
