i have recently downloaded the mod from gameshadow, made a nice clean installation of SH3 - and have tried to install the mod, yet it is telling me this:

c:/program files/ubisoft/silenthunteriii/data/sea/NCOT/NCOT.dat

an error occured while trying to copy a file:
the source file is corrupted

any ideas?

well i succesfully installed it without any problems, but since then, the game loads up to the main options screen, but when trying to load into career, loadin multi player game, or museum - the loading bar reaches approx 90% n then the game completely freezes :( so after all day in trying to add this mod, i still cant sink some ships

Are you sure its frozen
GWX will take longer to load as more units and bigger campaign files
That last bit is always the longest and sometimes seems forever

Have you:

rollbacked SH3Commander before anything else (if you use Commander)?
uninstalled completely SHIII (including deleting the SHIII folder from MyDocs before reinstalling)?
assured you have an absolute clean install?
patched to 1.4b?
checked the download file integrity and run MD5compare to see if all GWX files are good before installing GWX?

If you don't rollback SH3Commander first, even with a full uninstall, that can cause problems. Also, a full uninstall doesn't remove the SHIII folder from MyDocuments, and that folder needs to be removed first before installing GWX.

If you've done everything you should have in preparation, you might have a corrupted installation file. Running MD5compare before installing GWX will assure that all the install files are uncorrupted.

can u give me bit of info on this MD5 program, as i have never heard of it

bigboywooly

The MD5 program compares a text file hash with the download to compare integrity and non corruption

:hmm: Must admit I havent seen one for the single download

You can find the program MD5Compare here: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products.html

right...

i have downloaded the md5 program, wa next - its says to find file - so first testing the GWX.exe file - next it says find MD5 digest source

were do i find this?

and same for the
GWX-1.bin
GWX-2.bin
GWX-3.bin
GWX-4.bin
GWX-5.bin

im not used to this stuff lol - its confusing me good and proper - sorry for being a nuisance :)

If you search the thread Albrecht posted you will see this answer from Jaesen

The md5 hash file available via the GWX d/l thread is not correct - it appears to have been corrupted when u/l (ironic really, as the source is correct).

Get the correct one here... http://hosted.filefront.com/JScones/1890008

To use, d/l and save to the same folder as the GWX pieces. Then open MD5Compare, click on "Compare from MD5 file" and press "1. Select MD5 file...".

Browse to the GWX.md5 file and select it.

All going well you should get 6 ticks. Any crosses against any of the GWX files means corruption.

and this from Dowly

Download the GWX.md5 file and put it to the same folder as the .bins and the GWX.exe.

Launch the MD5Compare, choose 'Compare from MD5 file' and open up the GWX.MD5 file. It automatically checks the files.

awesome - i got 6 ticks :) so thats good lol

now i have completely wiped the recent installation of sh3 - removed files from my documents, completely removed sh3 commander - n made sure that no files were left in the program files directory

i have now reinstalled sh3 with 1.4b patch

now i am going to try the GWX mod - fingers crossed

There is no need for anything to be crossed;) GWX's installer works fine. If your SH3 installation is clean and patched to 1.4 it will run like a baby. Go on try it and see what a wonderful mod it is;)

It's the same thing really. I did install GWX first and SH3Cmd afterwards, but it really makes no difference. Make sure though that you do install the GWX required Cfg files in SH3Cmd directory if you install SH3Cmd. If you don't have these files you can get them from here http://files.filefront.com/GWXCfg4SH3Cmdrzip/;6362920;;/fileinfo.html

Glad we could help! :D

Some things that might help with your speed:

close out all unnecessary background programs, including web browsers,
turn off any anti-virus programs,
use the 8km, not 16km, atmosphere mod,
use the lite harbour mod.

Albrecht Von Hesse is correct.

Just to confirm (for next time), uninstalling SH3Cmdr does not roll it back. Uninstalling merely removes the core SH3Cmdr from your machine. Uninstalling does not remove the SH3Cmdr files from your SH3 installation nor does it restore the SH3Cmdr backed up files into SH3.

You really need to rollback SH3Cmdr prior to uninstalling it, for the reasons which are detailed in the SH3Cmdr Help file... ;)
