Have just tried to play sh3 again hoping that the patches would have solved my problems from when the game was released but they have not.
The problem is the same as before in that if I try to load the game with my Nvidia 6600 slotted in, the disk check box opens then the screen goes black for a second before switching to a slightly lighter shade of black and remains like that until I open the Windows Task Manager which takes an age to fill in as the cpu usage is 100%, it tells me that sh3 is not responding so I End Task. Now if I just replace the 6600 with my 5700 with no other adjustments the game runs fine. But there is no problem with the 6600 with anything other than sh3 including Medieval2 which is a lot more graphics intensive I would think. Obviously I do not want to keep the 5700 slotted in or have to keep swapping cards to play one game (good as it is!)
Having looked through the forums for ideas on this I have tried acting on suggested items like: latest drivers installed, disabling firewalls and virus scanners, I have ran registry clean up utilities, dxdiag has been run with no problems, screen resolution is 1024x768. The fact the game runs with the 5700 means the problem must be with the 6600 but what that problem is I am stumped, so if anyone has any more suggestions?
system is a sony vaio AMD athlon 2.2 Ghz with 1024mb ram, both graphics cards are nvidia 128mb cards
windows xp with service pack2
