Does anyone know how to get around this, when you load the intel on the nav map via this addon it dissapears if you press the clear all map eraser on the icons. I have done this to get rid of all the nav markings i have placed on the map when intercepting ships. Then i go to clear all my nav points etc but it clears the whole map and all the intel with it? Does anyone know how to get it back without having to reload again using SH3 GEN. It is a real pain when it does this! and you have to wait to reload to play again !!

I don't believe there is any way around this.
GlobalExplorer (who wrote the utility) answered the following to the same question in a previous thread:

Have you noticed that when looking at the map and you use the (clear map) button it also clears all your info as well .

@sober: This is expected, and theres nothing I can do about it. Maybe you could remove the erase all button from your map tools, but it might be easier if you simply don't use it :)

Yes, this happened to me as well, I just use the 'single' eraser now instead of erasing all the markings. Takes a little getting used to, but it's an easy workaround.

IIRC, it is stated in the SH3 Gen readme that you should never use the "erase all" function...;)

Is it not the case that the info is only valid for 24 hours anyway? :hmm:

@ Jim - :yep:

I always found the best use for SH3 Gen was to enable it once I had reached my patrol grid.

But, there's nothing stoping you loading it at the start of your patrol, then deleting the info and then reloading it for fresh intelligence.

@Jim

I always lunch SH3Gen once I'm 100-150Km from my base. That way I get all the current intelligence, and it is good for about a week I think. After that period I just hunt and look for targets the old-fashion way (watch crew and luck)

As I use SH3 Gen mainly for the mission feature (some of these are interesting) and for filling the log with general info (looks better...:D) I use it once after a save 100 km from base. Something like opening the mission objectives once at sea...

Same here. There's no way all that info could be transferred with morse code (well, it could but it would take hours), so I consider it to have been supplied in my safe with my orders. Once per patrol, thanks.

Not much to add.

You can only get the map info back by reloading the last savegame, but you will lose your progress since then, so that doesn't help much ..

You learned to never push the "Fire tube 1-5" buttons by accident, right? With Sh3Gen you must also learn to never use erase all or disable it from your tools menu. Don't forget, you are in the navy afterall.

Sh3Gen uses information approximately 14 days in advance. Some randomization does apply here, as well as some adjustement through program options / ini files. But roughly, it's a forthnight.

Still, I wouldn't worry too much about that, because most targets will stay at the same place, they don't change position so frequently. The information is getting less reliable, but not drastically so.

As Sailor Steve said, strategic information can only be given prior to the mission, not by morse code.
