I think he could be right on this. I believe we'll be paying to watch the shows we want to watch instead of a lump sum cable bill. I think he's wrong about advertisements though. Maybe initially no ads but that will change in a short time as Internet tv becomes anchored.

I don't completely agree with him. You will have a half and half approach. The half that are brainless mindless sheep will still want to come home and plop in front of the tube and watch whatever it on. This group may even be more than half. There are those that will go with his approach too of course, but I don't expect TV to be replaced ever like he says. Maybe a lot more on demand type content, but that is about it.

Remember by the way that this is Bill Gates. Read his book that he has 50 revisions of (just like his software - hmm!!?? :D ). He talks like this throughout that book and he constantly changed it from one printing to the next just becuase of completely bogas or wrong ideas exactly like this one.

Maybe he speaks sometimes before he thinks?

And to revolutionize TV you'll only need 624KB of RAM!!!

The amount of people who can do this (add afford it!) is still small. It will grow, but I don't thinks as fast as he's predicting and I don't think windows will be at the forefront. Apple is thinking the same way, as well as others. Who ever can make it affordable and easy to use (as well as promote it well enough!) will win.

HD TV video card in my computer would work for me, but I don't think they have the satellite hook up yet ...
Who do you work for Iceman, cable, Directv or Dish ...
I have Directv for the NFL ticket.

I think by 2009 everyone will have to have HDTV in America ... digital transmissions only after that.

They had the switch off date here in Australia for analouge TV as 2008, it's now being pushed back to 2010. The pick up rate has been slow, but it has been increasing rapidly as of late.

This is due to people get widescreen TV's that are HD ready or have a digital receiver all ready installed.

I do believe Tony Blair is forcing us lot here in the UK to switch to digital by 2010.
