I am still fairly new at this and was curious how good you all patrols have been. My best patrol netted me 426 renown, not too good I am sure. How about you other captins? Let's her some numbrs

Your asking the million dollar question here....so much depends on what realism setting your using :yep:

It depends on your realism settings and on the targets you sink. A Tramp Steamer for example give far less than a Battleship. On a recent patrol with 100% realism and 80,000 tons (11 ships all merchants) I got 3,850 renown, and in a 112,000 tons patrol with 55% realism I got 1,900.

I sailed to America and took out Norfolk. That will teach them. While I was hot I went to London, sailed up the Thames and took out No. 10 Downing Street just for laughs. When I returned to Lorient I was awarded one billion renown points and Doenitzs wife as a special treat. Eva Braun became my house maid.
Then I woke up from my dream.

2-Sep-1939 to 15-Aug-1940, 90% realism, VIIB & VIIC
Patrol 1: 1,582; 8 ships; 28,000 tons
Patrol 2: 1,859; 11 ships; 33,000 tons
Patrol 3: 1,961; 5 ships; 50,000 tons
Patrol 4: 2,076; 10 ships; 64,000 tons
Patrol 5: 2,432; 6 ships; 50,000 tons
I just returned from a GOOd patrol in a VIIB 57,000 tons and 1900 renown. It was enough to get a IXB --now I'm a renown beggar woth only 20 left. So I'll have to suffer a patrol without upgrades :dead: . It's January 1941
Would you believe: The last convoy I attacked, the escorts never bothered me.
Then I woke up from my dream.
:hmm: Sounds like you had a very wet dream with all that travel and adventure. ;) I'd keep it a secret about Doenitz's wife and Eva Braun. I've heard thru the ranks they're very demanding and are certified control freaks. Especially Eva, she's the reason Adolf shot himself..... too much fun. LOL

Thanks All, I have some serious catching up to do. Since I am new I am at 34% realism and still struggle. Can you pick up pointers if you play on line at Ubisoft?

The maximum I ever got till now is 9910 renown points (a IXB patrol with about 230.000 tonn sinking), with about 4k-6k on average renown with that boat. I play 100% realism and sink only the big ships. :)

Patrol Grid Reached = 1000
24hr Patrol Completed = 1000
Returned to Base = 500
So even if I have a crappy patrol I still get awarded for following orders.:know:
So far I have completed 10 patrols with only 3 having large amounts of tonnage, somewhere between 60000 - 100000 tonnes.(IX player + everything but manual targetting).

2500 for no kills? I don't get that at all. You edited the cfg file didn't you. :hmm:
I've got a total of about 8500 renown in 6-7 patrols while getting 4 or 5 big kills every patrol in my VIIB at 57% realism (now 62).

If I remember correctly you get 200 points of renown for reaching the patrol grid and for spending 24 hours there. But again I'm a Sith Lord so editing Cfg files is what I do to join the dark side;) :D :yep:

Now those numbers seem a little more accurate, you dark sider you. :)
Edit: For those who want more renown, skip the small ships, you'll sooner or later come across the big ones which will give you a lot more renown and then you won't be tempted to cheat by editing the cfg. It makes the game more challenging and satisfying that way as well. Plus part of the thrill in playing is doing what you can to get that renown so you can upgrade to bigger and better things. If you take away that challenge then you take away your incentive to be a better captain which will give you little satisfaction in the end, IMHO.

@ Jim - :p
To all, this is purely a way to make renown not so important to the progression of the game. With this approach, I am still able to purchase upgrades/crew at a reasonable rate without being at a disadvantage. With this option I am also not too harshly penalized for having a bad patrol, so far out of 10 patrols I've had 3 successful ones this sounds about right to me, as it is unrealistic to come back with high tonnage on every patrol.
Play the game the way you want.;)
Yuppers! The investment for upgrades and crew one has to make is what gives meaning to the game. Om my two lousiest patrols: tonnage 0 and 9 K. :/\\x:
