View Full Version : Inserting Waypoints

Now this is rather frustrating. How does one insert a waypoint in a ruote that's already been laid out?
I've tried various variations on clicking on the post, clicking on the flag, clicking and holding, clicking just off the post and flag, I can't get consistent results.
Occasionally I do get a new inserted waypoint, but more often than not what happens is that I get to move the existing waypoint, not insert a new one.

Control - Left click will insert a new waypoint AFTER the selected one.
Shift - Left click will insert a new waypoint AFTER the selected one and delete ALL waypoints after that.
Click and drag to move an existing waypoint.

EDIT: See my post below for a more specific explanation.

Thanks, I didn't know two of these!

And do you know how to plot your waypoints so that my boat patrols an area, going from A to B, then to A back, to be back and so on till infinity?

Hi,

I've tried using the CTRL-Left-Click to insert a waypoint too, but all it does is centre the screen on my u-boat as an aid to manual navigation.

Was this changed at all in GWX etc?

Cheers,

Hi,

Im getting the same result than Phoenix3000.

I cant remember how i made it work the last time!
The Hot-keys are listed in F1-screen (GWX mod of course), but no seems to work for me :-?

Could be the 23d patch? I cant remeber last time "insert waypoint" works...

Cheers

Ok guys, I see I should have been more specific.

If you have NO navigation tools selected:
-----CTRL-Left click will center your U-boat under your cursor's current position

If you SELECT the "Triangle" navigation tool:

TO MOVE AN EXISTING WAYPOINT:
1. Select the triangle
2. Move it over the waypoint you wish to change, so that it highlights in red
3. Click and drag it to a new location. Release the button.
4. Right click to turn off the Triangle

TO INSERT A NEW WAYPOINT:
1. Select the triangle
2. Move it over the existing Waypoint you want to insert a new waypoint AFTER,
so that it highlights in red.
3. Cick once on it to select it. (Do not drag it)
4. Move the cursor to the position you want the new waypoint to be
5A. CTRL-Left click. This inserts the new waypoint leaving ALL other waypoints intact.
OR
5B. SHIFT-Left click, inserts the new waypoint, but deletes all waypoints AFTER this new waypoint.
6. Right click to turn off the Triangle

TO DELETE ALL WAYPOINTS
1. Select the Triangle
2. Press Shift-Delete. ALL waypoints will be deleted.
3. Right click to turn off the Triangle.

This works for other tools too. If you want to delete all "Markers" (but leave waypoints, compasses etc. intact), Choose the "Marker" tool. Press Shift-Delete and all of the "Markers" on the map will be deleted, leaving everything else intact.

Hope that clears it up.

Sorry, I don't believe there is any way to make a waypoint leg(s) repeatable. Just have to do the ugly method of click near A, click near B, click near A, click near B and repeat, to create a bunch of waypoints.

Strange, as it was implemented in SH2. But thanks for your answer!

Oh man, that is sooooo helpful!

After all this time I'd never gotten this stuff working properly.

Thank you!
