Jim Cramer/RealMoney.com (http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thestreet.com%2Fp%2F_rmct %2Frmoney%2Fjimcramerblog%2F10334565.html&t=1169757014) has notes from AT&T regarding their plans for the iPhone. His column suggests that AT&T will be using the iPhone to aggressively target customers and implies that they will provide significant discounts in service:

Now, AT&T's all about market share, and if you read between the lines, I think you see a strategy coming where the device's $500 price point is preserved but the service contract is greatly reduced. I think that AT&T -- and not Apple -- is the key to this next leg, and CEO Stan Sigman can make it happen.

A recap of the same article (http://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thestreet.com%2F_mktw%2Ff unds%2Frealmoneyradiowrap%2F10334546.html&t=1169757014) outright claims that AT&T/Cingular will be "giving away its service for a year and a half to those customers who buy the phone".

Ha! Anyone can get a shotgun, that's easy. I want a phone that I can rule the world with. I was in San Francisco last week, it would have been great to have the iPhone--I could have used it to call a cab, look up the destination on Google Earth, use the GPS to make sure the cab driver was taking the shortest route, check my mail, the Subsim forums, find out the closing time at the Pampanito, check my stocks and commodities, and in general, wave it around like crazy whenever anyone looked my way
