So that's the new crew management system to be used in SH4. We promote ourselves! :D

An honor indeed, Lt Commander Lare, but I have just been offered my own boat. By the way, Sir, a submarine doesn't have a Bridge. Does your sub meet the minimum specs? You'll sink with less than a Gig of RAM....and you'll certainly sink if your sub has a Bridge! But I wish you happy hunting.
So your submarine doesn't have a bridge, but have a tower, insted???
Remindes me the scene of Aeroplane II, with William Shatner,
"let's go to the bridge"!
"Sir, we don't have a bridge."
"We don't?"
"No,sir, we have a tower insted..."
"Why I wasn't told about it..."
Well something like this, I can not remember right!:D

But now serious, ships have a bridge, subs until the 50's or 60's had a tower? U-boats, had the conning tower, read some were that this name is wrong to that struture. I tought that american sub had also a bridge.

U-boats have a turm, or turret. US subs have a conning tower, but "going to the conning tower" means going to the inside position. The top, outside is indeed called the bridge.
In Run Silent, Run Deep Clark Gable yells "Clear the bridge! Dive! Dive!".
You trust Clark Gable, don't you?

Yup subs do have a bridge - how about Dick O'Kanes book about the Tang "Clear the Bridge"!!
Oh by the way Cary Grant was in Operation Petticoat - John Wayne was in Operation Pacific.
Happy Hunting :ping:
Never saw Run Silent, Run Deep, so I can not trust Clark Gable. On "Torpedo Run" possibly they also call it bridge, but since I can not use sub movies as the only font to my knowlage. :p

I'm sure it is called the Bridge. It makes sense. To me it's always been the conning tower, but I defer to those with far more technical knowledge of submarines than me.

The conning tower and the bridge are not the same thing, anymore than a roof is the same thing as a wall. You pass through the conning tower on the way to the bridge from the control room, or visa versa. You are said to be 'in' the conning tower, and 'on' the bridge.
eheheh, no, that movies I already saw it, but never run deep run silent. Ehehhe.
Never meet Mr. Gable, so I don't know if I can trust him...:hmm:
