The F-111 is know as the 'Pig' in Australian service, as it's always got it's nose to the ground. It may have also got the name for it's service history!

Here’s a plane to watch coming out in the future …
The new blended wing X48B Looks real, uh?

Testing of this 21’ wing span model was to start this month at
Edwards Air Force Base, that’s out in the desert in California.

He hounds me about it all the time too, but i was brought up with it as the aardvark, since i was a little tacker, so its a tough, lifelong habit to break:yep:

I always thought edwards air force base was in DC?
Edwards Air Force Base (IATA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IATA_airport_code): EDW, ICAO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICAO_airport_code): KEDW) is a United States Air Force (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Air_Force) airbase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbase) located on the border of Kern County (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kern_County%2C_California) and Los Angeles County, California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles_County%2C_California) in the Antelope Valley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antelope_Valley), 7 miles (11 km) due east of Rosamond (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosamond%2C_California).

It's based on the 737 NG aircraft. Australia is the lead customer on the aircraft. It's been delayed into service:nope: due to some software issues, but all else is going well.
Why the weird set up? It's a electronicly steered anntena, instead of a mecanicaly rotating one. The radar is the one considered for the E-10 (the E-3 replecment) It couldn't be based on a 707 airframe, as it isn't being made anymore (last new build aircraft were the British AEW&C 707's). The Japanese 767 based aircraft cost too much, so this is what came up.
Turkey and South Korea have also selected it for there airforce, with Italy also looking at it.
