Hi Folks!

Still at sea after leaving Lorient 6 weeks ago and not too much to report except a bunch of site seeing. Anyhoo...I ran out of Deck gun ammo and I was wondering how do I reload? Didn't find the anser in the manual. I have plenty of torps left before I return to port. I probably save 1 or 2 for defensive purposes until I reach the base.

No Deck gun ammo. How do I reload the deck gun?

Thanks and Cheers!

If your out of deck gun ammo, thats it for that patrol. If you hadn;t fired it at all, you may have to go to the deck gun screen and select a different ammo type to allow it to load.

If your completley out only a return to base to get more.
if you need to reload i believe you click on the shells.

If your in late 43,44 forget about it you won't get a chance to use it unless you got a suicide wish.

Thanks!

After hitting the "I" button on the keyboard and then the small icon in the upper right ---> brings me to the ammo screen. It says I have almost 4000 of AP. Is that a bug? Shouldn't it be AA?

When I manned my Flack gun I noticed my remaining ammo is listed under AP and not AA. In fact, the only shells showing is AP - the large one to the far right.

What's up with that?

I'm still running just SH3 with 1.4b patch. No mods yet.

Cheers

AA is for the 37mm flak guns.

The Flak guns work .... plenty ammo there... it just shows up as AP when I man the gun. My Deck gun is out of ammo completely.

The only way to resupply the DG and not RTB is to find a Resupply Ship and dock at it. F1/Resupply will tell you where they are. Other than that you'll have to RTB.

You can use star shells (SS) as deck gun ammo as well. It doesn't seem to work well, but it will do damage.

Dock at a milch cow or RTB......better still use your primary weapon of destruction, namely your eels....most kaleuns tended to :arrgh!:

Thanks again! I'll have to be more conservative with the deck gun ammo on my next mission. Ran into a tugboat and hit it hard before I ran out of ammo. That little tug wouldn't sink!

Do they have resupply in SH3 with 1.4b patch?

Cheers

Not in stock/vanilla version you need to load a MOD...my advice would be to try GWX

My advise, get the GWX super mod. Simplifys the ammo because it only gives you what was historically correct. (what does a uboat need starshells for??? nothing). Also you can enjoy milch cows and a 1000 better play arena than vanilla could ever offer:up:

So just a question,

With stock SH3, I can resupply my deck gun ammo by returning to base?

Thanks.

Hi mate,

As I understand it, if you return to your starting base then it's considered "end of mission". But if you dock at any other friendly base you'll be completely re-armed and re-fueled (which will take a number of days) you'll be repaired too!

But that's going to be also the end of mission. After that ll is counted anew, like tonnage, number of sunk ships, days spent at sea, patrol counter etc. And it's always some advantage to dock at your home base if you can, as you can check there, if there are any improvements for your boat available.

Docking at base = upgrades to equipment/sub (if sufficient renown)...replenishment of fuel, eels, ammo...awarding of medals....repairs to sub.

Docking at resupply boat = all the above apart from ugrades to equipment/sub

And more: you can pick torpedoes you like nor sort them in your tubes and storage. That hurts.
