I like Kiel for the activity (gwx) and St. Nazaire for the position.

Depends when and what type of career I am after.
Early war Wilhelmshaven, although Kiel is a nice place as well. In France Brest if I want a VII career around the UK, Lorient for IX type long patrols. (may be also because this is the region where I was born and I know the places irl)
In the Med Toulon as I know it as well...

Kiel for the eye-candy and Lorient for patrols. It's well positioned and you can reach the Atlantic quickly

Kiel gives me a homey feeling, especially with the Luftwaffe patroling overhead. Then comes Lorient.

Speaking of ports, wouldn't it be cool if we had something to do in port (as sort of reward). I envision a picture of a street with different doors. Depending on your renown, you could walk into one or all of the doors for some entertainment, maybe a chat room.

That would be nice.

Lorient just for the Type IXs.

St. Nazaire for the ease of getting out to sea..... fast. And that's only because of being transferred there in my stock SHIII career. Also late in the war you'll get pounded by enemy bombers in St. Nazaire. So it's an especially exciting port. ;)

Aye i can attest to that. but my sub has 3 heavy flack guns on it. At the expence of my deck gun though.

Since I never got past 1940, it has to be Kiel. I like the port and I like the Canal.

I'm a type IX driver so it's gotta be any French Atlantic port :yep:

Any port in this game after the experience of playing SH2. There, no matter where you went you came home to a few empty docks and a stock sub bunker surrounded by a barren waste. Bleah.

Always the threat of an air-attack.
Always enemy taskforces cruising along the Norwegian coast.
Always to mines and anti-subnets everywhere to remember.

Leaving and returning to base is always an adventure! :damn::lol:

I just started a new career and selected Kiel. I mapped a route through the canal and I coyld not perform any time compression. It would have taken me an hour to get through. Did I do something wrong?

The default max TC near land is 4x, so you can change it either with SH3 Cdr, or if you don't use it by editing the "main" file in My Documents/SH3/Data/Cfg.
If you use NYGM or GWX, there is an automatic plotter in you navigator integrated orders (see manuals).

Thanks, I will try it tonight during my mission.

My load time for the game after GWX installation went way up. Is this normal?
