The date looks right. 03/13 in the US and 03/16 in the UK has been out there for some time. Very strange regarding the specs though. Mimimum 512MB of RAM? It was a minimum of 1GIG a few weeks ago. I guess the DEVS have been doing some optomizing over the last few weeks. we'll see.

Well, I'm good at 1.5 gigs of ram, but my poor little 2.0 processor is right on the line. Video I'm ok on. So some things I'm very good on, others are borderline.

Only if itīs a Pentium 4, a 2GHz AMD CPU or Intel Core 2 Duo is much more powerful than a P4 at the same clock speed.

Game devs should also start looking into us poor Core 2 DUO users. I play games that require more the my 1.86Ghz my procesor has to offer.

Otherwise I'm good to go! I guess that RAM shall again be the determining factor in how well the game will work.

I know, I'll ask my parents to give it to me for my birthday! :D

I think the speed of your video card is as important if not more important than how much RAM you have, as long as you meet the RAM minimum requirement. This game will require a decent video card in order to run well.

I would also urge caution regarding the stated RAM requirement on the Ubisoft website. With SH3, Ubisoft stated that the required RAM was 256MB and recommended was 512MB. Then about three weeks prior to the release, it changed to required RAM 512MB and recommended RAM 1GIG.

Sooner than I tought. Anyway, I'm eager to play it (and I'll be able to get it just before my birthday :arrgh!:).

Thereīs no such thing as a "poor Core 2 Duo user"! :) Your 1.86GHz Core 2 Duo is faster than a 3.4 GHz Pentium D, which is based on a Pentium 4. When Ubi says that a 2GHz CPU is required they mean a Pentium 4 with 2GHz.

Mine's March 26th. But I live in Slovenia, so there is a small chance we'll get it by then, :x :damn:

So SH5 will be March 17th, sometime in the far future then. :p

Does anyone know if the Canadian release date will be the same as the US one?

AJ!
01-21-07, 11:27 AM
Im sure the Canadian release date will either be between the US and UK release dates or same as US.

Ubisofts description of the game has just made waiting for the game even harder for me :p

Large Scale Naval Engagements: Epic naval engagements can be witnessed by players either firsthand or via radio messages and orders from high command.

Innovative crew evolution: Earn upgrades and experience to guide the evolution path of crewmembers, making your men the most effective naval force in the Pacific theatre.

Addictive Online New Adversarial Mode: Join forces with up to 8 friends via LAN or 4 via internet in either cooperative or adversarial gameplay modes. Scripted and generated mission types allow for epic online battles and unlimited replayability.

It all sounds so great. especially the Naval Engagement bit :D

I would recommend all gamers have at the minimum 1 GB of Ram, which is what I have at the moment. 512 may hit the minimum specs but I am sure that will be barely sufficient, if at all.
Ram is cheap, get 2GB, it can make all the difference in the world.

Also I have a Geforce 6600 256MB, this is a low end card now and are very cheap. IMHO anything less than this class of card will limit your gaming experience.

As it is I have to run all newer games with most of the graphic options turned off.

My rig
AMD 64 3000
Geforce 6600 256MB
Sound Blaster Value
1 GB Ram

I bought this rig 2 years ago from CyberPower for just over $1000.(dirt cheap)
It was roughly mid range when I bought it, now it barely qualifies as a low end system.

Gizzmoe, will an AMD Athlon64 work? It runs at 2ghz, but also uses the cool and quiet tech too.

Perhaps is the same engine of sh3, but a bit improved.

512 is the minmimum i think, it means stutter, and very long load times
also consider the next mods of the comunity ...

the best is 1Gb or more with a decent graphic card and a + 2.0 gz cpu

I have a 3.0 Ghz P4 Processor, and 1.5 GB of DDR Ram (400 Mhz), so this should be enough to run SHIV. However, I am not so sure about my video card - it is an ATI Radeon 9600 All-In-Wonder TV Capture Card. It has no problems with SHIII, although my graphics are not as sharp as those in some of the screenshots in the SHIII forums. Does anyone know if this card will be sufficient for SHIV?

TDK1044

The Ati 9600 is an old card. I doubt it will handle this game well.

Crikey!

That's right around the corner. They'll have to go gold at the end of this month. I was expecting June or something. I'll fit it into my schedule but I honestly haven't been considering it just yet.

Thats quite true but remember they didnt need to build a new engine from scratch but they have spent time heavily moddifying the existing engine (which will hopefuly look ten fold better then sh3, not that SH3 was a bad looking game :p)

I think we can look forward to a game that will offer significant but not radical gameplay and graphical improvements over SH3, and which will be released in the middle of March. Personally, I can't wait. :D

Unless of course the entire community finds the vanila bug free from the begining. :D

What?? could happen... :rotfl:

Great news.

I built my new system over the Christmas/New Year holiday period with this game in mind and a couple of others coming out 2007. I will have no problem running SHIV stock or with later released mods. :smug:

System specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz stock, Artic Cooling Freezer Pro 7, Asus P5b Deluxe Wifi-AP, 2048mb Corsair Dominator DDR2 6400 4-4-4-12, XFX 7900GS (cheap option until DX10 cards mature late 07 and reduce in price), Seasonic M12 600w modular, Antec P180B. Quiet and fast system with plenty of overclocking headroom.

Oh damn. I just realised that I fly out back to Sydney, Australia with my wife for a holiday and to show my better half the great place that Australia is. I guess I will have to wait a few weeks beofre I can get my hands on it. :damn: :damn: :damn:

I think it will release in the US on March 13, Aus on March 15 and Europe on March 16.

I guess it's possible that their Beta testing might throw up a major problem, but that's unlikely given that they weren't starting from scratch with this project.

I'm hoping to get mine by March 17th.

As much as I hate delays.. if they hit a big issue.. I Really hope they delay. I do not think any of us want to relive some of EA's history :)
