Crimeny!!!

I leave the flotilla office for just a few days and return to find myself nearly LOST!!!

It seems to me that Subsim.com is becoming far more popular (and much busier!) than ever before... Maybe double or triple volume in just two years? :arrgh!:

Very cool I think! :|\\

Congrats to Neal Stevens and Co.

One doesn't have to love each and every one of the modifications, but one must love the GWX as a whole. If one doesn't, I order him to duel me [or whatever it's supposed to be said ritually in English] *throwing his gauntlet*. Yes, that's true... Just have a look at "Would you still be playing if not the mods" thread. :)

Yes the volume has increased dramatically. I get one hour a day at the library to use the computer, and I used to go through every single post on the subsim boards-all of them. Nowadays I barely get through the SH3 board, so I have to skip a lot of threads and just look at the ones that look interesting to me.

I agree, it's all GWX's fault. Thanks a lot, Lehman!:p

Now you can see what happens when you leave Subsim alone for too long, don't do it again. :stare:

Besides, with your 'one man army' holding the fort and being too nice & helpful all the time, what can you expect.
Everyone's being too nice to all the n00bs.:rotfl: This must stop! So I'm glad you back & feeling better.:arrgh!:

You will be happy to know since you have been away for a bit, no one complains and cries like children because their beloved subs and crew died after two patrols and the big bad warships are just too hard:cry:. They all have accepted the fact that in all reality it was tough out there and specifically in the later years with radar/fido/sonobouy etc. ALL HAVE BECOME HARDEND KALEUNS WITH BRAVE CREW WHO CAN NOW ELUDE THE DREADED WARSHIPS AND CONDUCT A TONNAGE WAR LIKE MEN!

THERE IS NO CRYING IN WAR!

But hey, Kpt. welcome back:D

Its just the immersiveness of the game, the suspense etc.
I was assimilated, by a collegue at work, and I personally did it to another.
Resistance was futile.

But more important is this:
This board is like most (not all) fligsim forums. People here and for example at www.avsim.com are polite, patient and helpfull.
I think it has something to do with "being captains all together". Its a sort of honor code, a captain of a ship, or a plane, will never openly attack another captain. Because we are all virtual ''bosses'' or Kaleun's. We do it our way, and learn from each others stories.

FPS guys, are solists, thinking that their attack or approach is the best, and since they respawn within 20 seconds or so, can go all over again untill death.

We on the otherhand have a carreer of years, go over long distances and do our thing. Same for the flightsim guys (I am one of them). It takes tedious preparations to go from a to b as in real life, and Kaleuns between each other know that!. In other words, respect.

Anyone get my drift?

I agree. It's very fast paced reading now, jumping from post to post. Over on the Mods Workshop page, a modder is lucky to have his work up for about a day before it slips into the depths. I went back two pages and found posts I had'nt seen yet. Hopefully this will translate into increased sales for SHIV and inspire developers to continue to improve on this little niche we call the sub sim. :sunny:

I think Johan here hit the nail on the head. Sure GW and GWX have played a part... but I think that's only scratching the surface. I think lots of things contributed to the big waves happening here.

It is also wort mentioning how the correspondance between ATC and pilots are on IE the vatsim servers. Those time i have flown there, the ATC are always mature & helpful. But i really think the Subsim forums are the best i have ever seen, concerning helpfullness & maturity.

Can't argue with that :nope:

Hell!!...some of the sites I visit on occasion (mIRC and private/invite only forums) it's almost 'custom and practice' to receive some form of abuse or other

I think the fact that most people in this forum are polite and helpfull has to do with the fact that most of us are not 15. If you see the kind of stuff people tell to each other in forums where loads of kids go (like Guild Wars etc) you will be stuned. That's why I like it here. We're all adults and we behave. Ocasionally we have our fights but deep inside there is a deep level of trust and respect. That's why I'm still around. If I want abuse and foul language I can have it all at work (within reason);) :D :D
