I've been using Sh3 Generator for a while now quite successfully this is what I do...

1. Start new Patrol and get out of port away from land and traffic
2. Save game. (Take physical note of patrol and save game name)
3. Exit patrol to game main menu
4. Alt tab out of game
5. Run SH3 Generator
6. Browse for patrol and save game (written down earlier)
7. Generate patrol log
8. Exit SH3 Generator
9. Open up SH3 game
10. Load up saved game (Written down earlier)

Game should now start as normal, only now your map will have loads of intel on it, as will your captains log.
Find, sink, enjoy, repeat.

1. You run SH3 as usual (through SH3Cmd or sh3.exe is the same thing)
2. You start your patrol and about 50-100Km away from harbour you save and exit the mission
3. You press Atl-Tab and go to desctop
4. You fire up SH3Gen and load your save game and generate the report
5. Once you've done that you exit SH3Gen
6. You click on the minimized tab on your taskbar of SH3 and you return to the game
7. You load up your career and your save game and you're ready to go

Hi mate, there's a readme enclosed with SH3Gen. Basically, you choose your information settings and 'point' SH3Gen to your latest save game.

The program will take you through it, once finished, exit Gen and reload your patrol.

:damn: - What Mel said.

Sh3Gen is only needed to make changes to the savegame files. You can run it before you start SHIII, you can exit SHIII before you run Sh3Gen or you can use the Alt-Tab method. After you have updated the savegame files, you can close it as it`s not needed anymore. I would even recommend to do so, as it is eating up RAM, in some cases up to 50 MB.
