Which is the better Mod, NYGM or GWX?
I know that most of you are using GWX, but I also see that Wolves at War is using NYGM.
I guess my question is, what are the ups and downs of these two mods? I am using NYGM now, but I hear GWX all over the forum.

Ah, this old Jem again.;)
Reinhard, you would not believe how many times this has been asked.
The only simple answer is to have multiple installs and try both. The rest of the information you require can already be found in the forum.
Edit - WAW now accepts GWX as a useable mod.

Here we go again with the NYGM vs GWX;) :D :D
As dan said both are very good mods and offer a wonderful experience in the game. I chose to play GWX because it's closer to the way I like the game to be, but that's a personal opinion. My suggestion would be to try them both. See which one is better suited for you and stick with it. The only sure thing is that you will have fun playing the game:yep:
I getting a little sick of hearing these diplomatic answers:D...
Objectively seen, GWX is at least as realistic as NYGM (depending on how you define realism), but has far more in terms new features and additions, including new ships, aircraft, skins, new operational theatres and much more.
Theres no contest in my opinion, but I'm on the GWX team and am a little biased. I'd highly recommend trying it out though.

Which is better, Coke or Pepsi? Which is better, Ford or Chevy? ;)
Each mod has its fans, each mod brings a lot to the table as far as increasing realism and playability. You really should try each and find the one that suits exactly what you're looking for. I use GWX and enjoy it a lot. But that's just me, of course.

I have 4 SH3, GWX,Vanilla(restoring yuckymod),NYGM and War Ace 2.0(Which I just started getting into).
Does a boat sink if it sits still or does it rise.Seems to me:smug::|\\(what do I know )that a sub would rise slowly very slowly if sitting still, not sink untill hitting bottom or crushed.
This seems to be the biggest difference between GWX and NYGM.By the way i deliver for a dealership. The guys next door at the Ford dealership(TECHS) all drive pre 1974 CHEVYS!:o

I guess what I am wanting to know is are the escorts and ships act the same for both mods. From what I have been reading here in the forum is GWX has some mean escorts to tangle with, but for those who play NYGM, are the escorts the same way?

Nothing is better or worse :yep: itīs only different .
there are a lot of things and only a good comparative and know what do you want can help take a decision. (loading times, eye candy, realism, sensors and antennas, low contrast screen for night operations, etc ect)
Now i just install GWX after a lot of time with a customized Rub 1,44, but i want try NYGM before start another career. and then decide what mod choose.

Pirates or ninja's?
Fact: Coke is better than Pepsi!
True unless you go into the diet and caffiene free versions then Pepsi outdoes Coke.
As for NYGM vs GWX...
Just try them out and see which you like better.Or better yet have 2 installs of SH3 and play them both..on on each copy.

Whilst I tend to agree with danlisa's (and other similar) comments (I've never used NYGM so can't compare anyway), it's great to see someone with the jatz crackers to throw PC out the window and call it as they see it.
And yes, Coke is better than Pepsi, and GM is better than Ford. Just look at the sales of each. So using that argument, GWX must be better than NYGM. (sorry, but I couldn't resist highlighting the argumentum ad populum/numerum fallacy - apologies to any debaters that just choked on their weeties).:rotfl:

No, I must disagree. It's not about what is better and what it worse. It's about who likes something more than a different, or even similar thing.
You can't say „pepsi is better than coke”, but you could say „I prefer pepsi” or „I dislike coke”, unless you provide us with some scientifical research on „what is better” topic and their result will be undoubtful... :)
So - I prefer GWX, simply after reading GWX and NYGM manuals I chose it. It fitted me better. It was also newer. And it had much bigger stress on realism, which I like. And now I can say I chose good (and it's possible I'd say that after choosing NYGM also).
Bests.

Speaking od jatz crackers... which are better jatz or savoys? :hmm:
I prefer gwx, I have got the feeling that gwx is complete, while nygm has still room for improvement.

I played NYGM before GWX and therefore made a dual install.
GWX has more ships, more scripted campaigns, more available bases. In NYGM I like the reworked crew compartments, the way it handles DD patrols, the fatigue system, the starting crews and a few other things.
Against escorts both require the same basic tactics, have not noted until now a big difference in that part of the game, but have only made 2 patrols in the Med with GWX, so a little early to have a definitive opinion.
They have a different approach on the "anti hummingbird", in GWX when you stop you go upwards, in NYGM you sink... If you play with map contacts on, the "assisted plotting" system in NYGM is nice to use.
I plan to keep on using both.:D

Thanks every one who posted here, I loaded GWX, so now I have two installs running one of each.
Thanks again, and stay silent and stay alive....
