View Full Version : Britain to face more tornadoes
Just finished watching CH4's Tornado Britain: An Equinox Special, The tornado's that hit Birmingham and London last year were both class as F2:huh: and in the last three years we have had about 30 each year. And the prediction for the future more of them and more F2 tornado's :o cripes batten down the hatches folks. :ping:

Stay away from the mobile home parks. Tornado magnets they are.

I remember seeing photos after an ice storm in Europe.
The trees literally had ice wrapped around it, I found some photos of it here:

Sailor Anal-Retentive Steve has to jump in with an English lesson here: It's tornadoes. An apostrophe is only ever used to denote ownership or a contraction, never ever ever a plural.
It's Ferraris, not Ferrari's, Subs not sub's and all that other good stuff.
I know this kind of reproof is frowned upon here, but sometimes it gets so bad I can't stand it anymore. (And it's gets, not get's).

30 tornadoes? Bah, that's just a bad squall in one afternoon here in America. :sunny:

Not where I live. We had one...once...1999. Right in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City. Scared the willies out of us.

There was no warning with the London one wham bang thank you man. Just dropped on London in and out before you could break wind, I know you guys have real big ones but from what I understand you get a ten minute warning.

The Windy Baron flies over and drops a note
"Ten minutes, gentlemen. I suggest hatch-downwards-battening-behaviour"

I'll rig my house for a deep dive
"Mum, spread the word, dive dive"
*Arooooooga* *Arooooooooga*
"Dive Dive! Clear the Porch!"
"Porch is cleared"
"Dad, take her down. 10 degree down bubble"
"Down 10, aye"
"Patio awash!"
"Secure the oil boiler, switch propulsion to the battery"
"Secure boiler, propulsion switched to battery"
"Dad, increase to All Ahead Two Thirds"
"All ahead two thirds, aye" *dingding* "Engines indicate ahead two thirds"
"Start levelling off"
"Levelling off"
"Anyone want a cup of cocoa?"
"MUM! "

Kapitan_Phillips do you Brits measure Tornado intensity differently than we do in the USA?
I noticed you called it a T2...
We use F 1-5 Fugiame or FooGeeAAMEE.... whatever scale

Yeah, we do use a different scale.
A low intensity tornado is known as a D-MIB - Standing for "Deary Me its breezy"
A medium intensity tornado is known as a 'slight inconvienience'
A high intensity, destructive tornado is known as a W-M-B-H-G - Or "Where's My Bloody Hat Gone"
:arrgh!: Gotta love us Brits. Kings of understatement.

Let my try a go at British Humour then:
Blimey Steed, hopefully the tornados will destroy that bloody London Eye.
