I have just purchased SH 3 from my local computer store to which doesn't run on my computer, however I went back to the store to which runs on their system perfectly is their something wrong with my computer which is only 2 yrs old.

When I checked on the disk my computer it shows that its a blank disk when infact it worked at the store of purchase.

I have SH 2 and DC on it to which works fine. Would having SH 2 on the computer effect the loading of SH 3?

Were you able to actually install the game?

BTW - Did you make that sig yourself including most of the images in it?

Not much info to work with here. :hmm:

Going solely on your "When I checked on the disk my computer it shows that its a blank disk when infact it worked at the store of purchase." comment, one has to ask, are you sure you are inserting it into a DVD-ROM drive, and not just a CD-ROM drive?

EDIT: Looks like I'm too slow again...

"Only 2 years old" may be just too old. And it depends what inside the case. If it was cheaper than 1000 USD/Euro it is most likely a piece of crap.
Computers bought from a supermarket just aint good enough. :D

What a load of crap...

That comment is about as far from facts as I have ever heard.

I have a 2 yr old system that can run SH3 just as well as my brand new system.

Not only that but price has nothing to do with how a system performs. All that sounds like is someone playing the "my penis is bigger than yours cause I paid more" horsecrap.Bunch of bollocks.I paid $500.00 for my home built system and run SH3 perfectly at 1280x1024 with 2xAA and 2xAF.

Now as for the topic on hand..

1. Make sure you are using s DVD drive and not a CDROM drive as has been said. That would explain the readingit as a blank disc.

2.What are your systems specs...would be help us to help you if we know whether your system can actually handle the game and what else may be the problem.

It's worth noting that sometimes an old system gets too tired to be any good no matter how safe and clean you keep it.

But a reinstall of windows can make a world of difference when all other options fail. :know:

@CWorth :rotfl:

Look at the state of my system and it still plays GWX fine. Back on topic though...give us your specs (including ROM drive) and you should get all the help/info you need

Of course you can run any game on a cheap bucket, with low quality settings. I'm talking about everything set to max, and having at least 512 TC in ports. I'm sorry you only paid 500 for your rig. You cannot play any newer games (BF2142) without having to decrease graphics settings.

"I play Doom 2" on my 10-year old comp." Well d'oh!? :damn:

Well my system is..

ASUS Mobo
P4 3.0 Ghz
1024 MB ram
6800 256MB video
Audigy 2 ZS sound
2x 180GB SATA HDD
500Watt Power supply

All that and the rest of the parts I needed were only $500.00 total. Its all who you know and where you go to get the parts. So like I said..you dont need to spend all that to get a great system. And that system was built a year ago.
Now I could probably spend the same amount and put a top of the line together...using my same sources for parts.I dont use retail stores or online shops for parts..thats the key to saving money.

Yeah, and you know quite well that your system would have costed considerably more than $500 if you didnīt have the chance to get the parts from "special sources". So donīt say that a good system doesnīt have to cost more than that, your prices are an exception and not the rule.

Thats true...Im just saying that you dont HAVE to pay that much if you look around and shop/buy carefully. Most of my parts came from local computer shows that come around every now and then.

Teho, not really as you say, it depends on the computer and knowing what you bought. Sometimes the "low and max" are non existant. As an example... my soon to be son-in-law bought a so called "gaming" computer from CompUSA last year. They told him it could run any game on the market. Paid big bucks for it but got the shaft in the end. He could play COD but not COD2 and couldn't figure out why. Couldn't play MOH PA or SHIII either. So after us moving down to Delaware this fall we opened the case..... he knows nothing about computers let alone how to open it up. Guess what we found besides a load of dust..... no graphics card and a little 200 watt PSU. Tho it does have a 200gog HDD, 1gig of DDR RAM and a AMD Athalon 3400+ 64 processor. Not a gaming computer by any standards without a graphics card and a PSU that can run the card. Now he has a 400watt PSU and a GF 7600GS GFX card, and he can now run the games he couldn't before. Shame on CompUSA and the fool that sold it to him.

No matter where you buy a computer be careful what you buy and check it's guts before you buy it. I've stood in stores and watch people get the shaft not kowing what their buying. Store bought computers aren't necessarily gaming computers. The cheapest priority parts are put in them. Get it home and you have to do an upgrade first thing. Alway check the PSU wattage and GFX card before you buy one. I was almost thrown out of a CompUSA store 3 years agao for telling a customer he was getting screwed on the computer they told him was a "gaming" computer. After I explained what was missing and what he needed the sales idiot said "Gee I didn't think of that."

Now CWorth's computer is one he built it himself, as is mine. And I wouldn't buy any computer off the shelf from any store and figure it's a gaming computer. It's "buyer beware", know what's inside the case.

When I go into a store these days, I play the Ralph Nader of desktop computers.

GEE would'nt it be nice if the thread starter "Heer Kapitain" could get his thread back again ? I for one would like to know what his answer to the begining posts are.

Having SH2 on the computer should have no effect whatsoever on SH3. I have SH2 and Destroyer Command on mine and SH3 runs just fine. There is no relation between the two at all.

SH2 comes on a CD-ROM. SH3 is on a DVD-ROM. It does indeed sound like you only have a CD drive.

Yeah...my computer has the logo 'Intel Inside....Idiot Outside' :rotfl:

But back OT...I agree, it's prob a DVD Rom that's needed here :yep:
