View Full Version : A happy campers Patrol Report! (insanely pic heavy)
Okay, first of all I would like to say that I just had the time of my life with SH3. What I experienced in Scapa Flow a few hours ago is the most nail biting and rewarding gaming I have done for ... well, probably years. Over the top? Maybe.
December 1940, Kaleun Neumann and crew left Lorient in U-93 (type VIIC), bound for AM. After patroling their assigned grid for 24 hours, Neumann received orders to go to Scapa Flow, due to reports of capitol ships in the area.
U-93 approched Scapa Flow from west, manouvered around on the outside, and entered from the east. The boat got through the blocking ships without incident, and submerged as the sun set.
This is what met them, the HMS King George V(!):

But King George was not alone, of course:

U-93 is blown out of the shallow water:

Neumann fired a steam torpedo at point blank in anger. Revenge!

Neumann is finally in a position to fire at the anchored HMS King George V, and fires three torpedoes at approx 1500 meters, The fourth tube door is jammed by depth charges.

9 torpedoes later Neumann and U-93 retreats with severe damages, but the mighty HMS King George V is still floating:

Because of a damaged fuel tank, U-93 nearly had to be scuttled, but she made it to Bergen for repairs, even though she had to run on electrics the final leg.
This was my most entertaing moment in SH3 (ever), and thats kind of funny considering my total tonnage was 950 tons. (Didnt get the destroyer that blew up after the crash :rotfl:) The boat was a total write off, nothing worked except the observation periscope, and barely so. That the titanic battleship survived was somehow fitting.
Oh, the fun!

Unlucky mate, King George is a sturdy vessel :arrgh!:Good thread :up:
Well, my friend from the southern parts of Norway....There is a new king in Scapa Flow! :o:o:up::up::up: (dont worry, you'll get her next time!)
Let me say it very clear: GOD DAMNED! You are one h*ll of a kaleun!!!!!!!
Kudos!!!!:rock::rock::rock::rock::rock:
Talking about campers, Freetown is a place indeed for the ones in need! In 1941 it was full of merchants, it was ligthly guarded and a small "task force" comes in if you wait. :sunny:
And i just had to OT: I just met the biggest convoy ever, in the Northwestern part of Atlantic. It was a size of a large convoy accompanied with a task force. I counted a total of 8 Destroyers, 1 escort carrier and a mixed group of mercs, about 10-15, most of them were HUGE. I tried to avoid them but they kept on zigzagging and i was attacked many times. :ping:
Oh, to measure my success with GWX: I started in 1939, now it's 42 and i'm handing out iron crosses for my sailors. All the officers and pettyofficers already have both of them.
