View Full Version : Realistic Fatigue?

I've been at SH3 since about Sept/Oct last year. I've installed GWX and SH3 Commander, both of which I like very much. I've noticed that if I give my crew enough medals they become superhuman and no longer fatigue. Not very realistic, imho. Any way to correct that other than depriving some of them of medals?

Gosh, that is the first time someone has said they are super human. It is usually the other way around. We spend too much time micromanaging a weak crew. I do not have an answer for you on that one.

I can understand having everyone qualified or assigned to a particular post early on during a new career, but were medals handed out by the bucket-load as one can do with SH3 Commander?

That's what I would expect. So maybe it's actually better to let SH3 handle the medals, rather than Commander, with the exception of the U-Boat War Clasp? (I think it's called that) Maybe I just have to make the most of it as is.

I have noticed with GWX that the War Patrol medal comes in droves. This seems correct because the crew has been on a war patrol. I also notice that renown does not go up when the medal is awarded. (correct me if I'm wrong on this, it is just something I noticed with war patrol medals) Renown goes up as a result of experience and not the medal itself in this matter. Now medals other than the War Patrol medal increase renown as well as a promotion/award if you get any.

Yep that's correct I think. Medals do not give you experience but they make you better and more efficient. That in turn gives you more experience as you get more renown during patrol

Umm, it's called Kaleun discipline. Only you are making you hand medals out by the tonful. ;)

In regards to realism, in RL the Kaleun could, if he really wanted to, recommend everyone for the Knight's Cross and all before it...but did he? No.

So, in essence, realism is what *you* make it. By allowing *you* to award any medal, SH3Cmdr is giving you the same abilities that real Kaleuns had (within reason - see below). And just like in RL, it's up to *you* to determine whether the award is really warranted. Here it seems that your standards for great achievement are simply too low.

The only aspect that SH3Cmdr does not model is the approval of BdU...to do so would simply get in the way and could not be accurately reflected anyway (ie in RL BdU had *your* report of the individual's achievements to go by, in SH3/SH3Cmdr such a thing does not exist). So in this regard you need to apply perhaps slightly greater judgment and rationale than a RL Kaleun would do in order to compensate for BdU saying "nay".

Pls note that SH3 does NOT model correct medal availability dates nor the correct criteria for awarding, ONLY SH3Cmdr does.

For example:
* SH3 awards the U-Boat Front Clasp prior to its establishment date of 15 May 1944.
* SH3 awards the German Cross in Gold prior to its establishment date of 28 September 1941.
* SH3 awards the U-Boat War Badge prior to its establishment date of 13 October 1939.
* SH3 does NOT award a wound badge if the crewman was repaired at sea.

Of course, SH3Cmdr observes these correct dates in addition to providing guidance for the awarding of medals that are based on individual performance.
