Hi and welcome to Subsim
Most of the major mods have removed the xhairs and there is probably a single mod out there to do it

If you want a step up in game play and want to try one of the "super " mods
then you have a choice of 3 really these days

UWAC 2 - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=87436

NYGM 2.3 is the latest I believe

And of course GWX - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=102096

None of them will work together but you can have multiple installs and try them all out

All of them add something extra to the game - but none more so than GWX

And dont forget SH3Commander - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=101815
A great program that no SH3 gamer should be without

Try out this link for any other questions you may have

Welcome to SubSim:up:

I think GWX is the best mod out there. Try it and you will not be dissapointed. If you need to download it you can either click on the link in my signature or on the link that BBW gave you in the previous post.

Good Luck and Good Hunting:up:

I'll add my voice to the GWX supporters. I find it to be a nice balance of realism/difficulty and visual improvements to the base SH3 game.

I doubt you'll be disappointed, but as BBW said, you can have multiple installs and try out each of the major mods to find the one that fits your preference.

I believe the integrated orders mod allows one to play SH3 without ever having to touch the keyboard ie all commands can be given by mouse. What the mod does afaik is to add extra buttons at the appropriate officers' station. For instance (just off the top of my head) opening a torpedo tube is "w" on the keyboard. Using this mod, you click on the weapons officer & click the icon for opening the selected tube.

For underwater visibility, the easiest way to do it I reckon is to use SH3 Commander. There's an option that allows the user to set the opacity of the water in the game.

Happy hunting!

"Q"...the "Q" key opens the selected torpedo tubes :know::up:

If you want to see what the "Integrated orders" mod looks like and what it does. Tikigod has written a wonderful summary of it, with pictures of all of the new order icons it provides, at this thread:
