Scientists find stem cell source in amniotic fluid
They reported they were able to extract the stem cells without harm to mother or fetus and turn their discovery into several different tissue cell types, including brain, liver and bone.

Great news, now maybe the controversy will die down and progress can be made in this field.

I agree.
While I'm not keen on the idea of playing god with stem-cells, I'd be much less apprehensive of the research if it didn't depend on aborted fetuses.
Although I'm still waiting to see any real gains to be made in the field.

Embryo arn't is all that greaer supply, and if it became legal to sell embryo's you could be sure there would be some serious effots to do it illegaly. I hope this can help improve the outlook for people who may benifit from any medical advances.
If it can be done without risk to mother or child, then go for it! If it's just a way to try and get around the ban on embryonic stem cells, then bin it!

Ewwwwwwwwwwww.:o
Has anyone looked into "Adult Stem-cell Research"?
As I understand it "Adult Stem-cells" have proven not to cause tumors.
Where the "Embryonic Stem-cells" do and have done worse.
There is a difference one research is working and the other is not. Why the Media keeps pushing "Embryonic Stem-cells":nope: ?

I remember reading about this years ago.
Scientists need to start spending more time reading Sci mags again to keep up with the flow instead of machinating the next "[Name of Scientist here]'s Scientific Learnings of Research for Make Benefit Great Peoples of Humanity" project to suck on Federal money.
EDIT: Seeing the potential for another Speedo-like question, I must add that I am simply using these people as a ladder for my joke. I don't know the guy in the picture, the rest of his team if any, which lab he works in, who pays his salary and the research and any further details, I really just wanted to say "for Make Benefit Great Peoples of Humanity".

Embryonic stem cells are easier to collect (you know where to get them), and are easier to from into what you want. Adult stem cells take longer as the have to be extracted from the blood, they also don't generate as well, due to them being "older"
Adult stem cells have a big advatage in treatment as they woun't be considered forigen bodies when they are put back into the patiant.
The reason the media pushes embryonic stem cells is that they have a better PR machine pushing it than adult, as the effot to get the required "material" is harder (laws, ethics and supply)
