Guys, a couple of questions if anyone can help;

It ocurred to me that a destroyer can hear the noise created by your men loading torpedoes, working on repairs, etc. However they can't hear torpedo launch transients, nor can they hear electric torpedoes heading their way. Why is this??? Torps will make one HELL of a noise.

And how is the blind/homing running times determined with the homing torpedoes? Sometimes my homing torps run straight, past the target, only to go into homing mode when they're in clear water. Other times they go into homing mode too soon and then seek the wrong target.

The homing torps ingame run for 400m before acquiring target
Obviously the target is moving and most of the time changing course too

The loudest noise is the prop so thats where the homer heads for
Now sometimes they overshoot as target not where the torp headed for so they circle around and home in on the prop

As for seeking the wrong target - well the homer is designed to head for the loudest noise
So if you fire at one ship at 0 angle and there is another closer ship at 45 making more noise then thats where the torp will head for
Sometimes you if you go to flank after firing

Standing orders for uboats was to dive deep straight after firing and silent running so they werent the loudest closest target

I beg to differ - i've had torps arming themselves (homing ones that is) WAAAAAAY over 400m....
