One of our colleagues sent a distress call today: He was running out of air, juice, time. In short he was out of aces up his sleeve. The U boat commander's advantages are surprise, and stealth. The enemy has the firepower, speed and staying capability to drive you to the surface and finishing you off..

When going to attack, it is essential to have as much working for you as possible. Lots of battery power, as much good air as possible, and plenty of water under the keel. One has to be as economical on battery power as possible on the approach phase of any attack. You will be using it to get out of the mess you got into.

When under DC attack you will use lots of short bursts of battery eating ahead flank speed to avoid the ash cans. And eventually, you'll need enough juice to sneak away far enough from your tormentors where you can surface.

If you want to live long enough to make another patrol, you should have 75% or better of battery power available when you arrive at your attack position. Anything less than that could spell your doom. :dead:

Is this a story or a hint?

It does actually sound like an excerpt from a manual :P

But a good point nontheless. It's far too easy to be lulled into heading into a situation torpedoes pouring forth, and d/g blazing, only to realise you aren't
a) invincible
b)any good against military ships, seeing as you are massively underpowered and underarmed.

Especially at the lower realism settings. Guilty:oops:
But since I upped the realism, I've learnt to be far more humble, and thankful for any tonnage I get. Even if it's a tug boat :stare: (Those were important to the war effort too ok??) :88)

Yeah, straight from the owners manual. You can find it in your glove box:D. Thank God for the undercoating, it keeps the water out. I did pay extra for the pinstrips and color coordinated floor mats:nope: They did give me a 5 year 100000 nautical mile warranty:D Of course in the uboat business you might get 1 month and a 1000 nautical miles before she is blown to bits;)
