Its so long ago now, I really cant remember, but I think I was googling for mods, and came to the subsim frontpage. In there I found tons of starnge modifivcations that seemed way to complicated for me, but somehow I started trying some of them out.

After a long period of not playing, I saw a pic from The Grey Wolves at a Norwegian gamer site, and that was it. Since then I have been tormenting you.

So, what about the rest of you?

Occasionally I'll look thru the gaming reviews to see whats out there when I'm looking for something different and new. About a year ago I read the reviews for SH3 which seemed pretty good and from there I ended up coming here to get some further info about it. I eventually became hooked and have been here ever since.

Same as Bigboy. Played the vanilla version. Got bored with it. Had seen mods here but they were just a all over the place and did not work well together. I went on to play IL2. I came back to SH3 because it has been about a year. Dropped by here and had seen GW 1.1. THE SUPER MOD! ONE STOP SHOPPING MOD MOD OF ALL MODS!!!!!! After reading what it offered and was sporting a major woodie over it, dropped it in and have not left since. GWX has made it all that much better. My X52 joystick is growing weeds;)

I came across this site back when I first got SH2. I downloaded some mods off it but never bothered to join or even look at the forum. When I saw that SH3 was coming back out, I searched around for more information and rediscovered this site. Knowing it was pretty cool from SH2, I joined the forum and have been visiting here on and off ever since.

I stumbled across this site before I played SH3. In fact, I had just ordered it from Amazon and decided to go out looking for updates, new campaigns, and tweaks. This site has been fantastic - a wonderful resource of historical and game information, as well as a user group second to none in terms of helpfulness.

Thank you all for making SubSim what it is - an outstanding place to learn, play, share, and laugh.

Shortly after buying SHIII, I decided to search the internet to see if there were any mods I could find to enhance it, as I had done earlier with Star Trek Armada II (I was particularly interested in new ships, and especially new merchants). After finding this site, I eventually began building ships instead and am now more interested in modding than in playing. Ironically, I didn't really even expect to find any mods at all for the game, let alone getting involved in modding myself.

I honestly don't remember when exactly I stumbled onto this site. When I got SHIII it was (and still is) my first serious submarine sim and if I recall correctly I was looking for updates for the Improved U-Boat mod back then.

What I do remember is that from the very beginning of me being here I felt right at home, not in the least bit because of the very warm and friendly atmosphere over here within these forums. That's something special and it's something I had not seen before or since on any major forum I visit.

You guys are sweet! :arrgh!:

Yeah, I think its fairly okay to state that sub-simmers are more likeable than other gamers. :D

Looking for mods and via the official forums. Much more traffic here though, lurking for six months or so, but I signed up eventually.

No, but general topics is a minefield. Reading there gives me a headache.

Sorry, though, its just that the guys in here are the ones we all "know", so I thought it would be interesting.

I had SH3 bought as soon as it got out, but then I lost the DVD (you know, you lend it and it never comes back). I managed to play without my DVD (I'm not to proud at myself for doing that). I did around for SH3 mods, but the ones I found were weak and required a new install.

THen I posted on the FileFront forums that I wanted to know how to make new subs for SH3. They sent me to the main site, which showed me the way to the forums and I have been posting since (I have been kindda inactive for a while, still having GWX Beta installed). I then bought a new SH3 game and stilled GW 1.1a.

The same reason I join any forum, I have a problem and need answers. I got myself in way too deep on subsim and become a modder, lol.

I bought SH3 a few months after its release, and came to Subsim.com first to look for mods. I played Rub for a long time, then had a long pause spending more time on flight sims.
I came back around here in September, discovered NYGM, started playing again , lurking on the forum and jumped in...

As long as you've bought the game, nothing to be ashamed of imho. I bought all the games I use, but the CDs and DVDs are carefully stored and never used after install...

Got the game about 5 months ago , started playing vanilla version but after a week or so started wanting to mod things , saw the ad for seawolves that used to be in gameshadow , did some reseach and found out about all the stuff with X-1 etc and about GW 1.1 , thought why pay for something that it looks like i can get for free? , so joined to get a faster d/l of gw and been here since :D

I was looking for information on Silent Hunter. I thought I was the only person who still liked sub games.

I lurked for a while before creating my account. I don't post much, but I read quite a bit.

I had been pottering around with the vanilla version for a while, but only joined up recently when I started having a few questions, and wanted a more intense gameplay. I immediately felt welcome in the forum, none of the bad etiquette of other places. Since then, I've been a busy 'ol Kaleun. I spend more time here than in my sub! Can't be too healthy, but hey, chicks dig it!

I'd been playing the stock game for several months, and had a question or three about weird things going on, so I'd logged onto Ubisoft and created an account in order to access the forums.

Once there I discovered *gasp!* this weird thing called 'mods'. How extraordinary!

After a while of experimenting with the minor ones, I decided that, having dipped my toes into the waters now, I'd check into the bigger ones. The one in particular I started with was RUb. I'm not sure exactly how I would up here, but it was a result of back-tracking trying to find where to get the files, etc.

Once here, I was amazed and delighted at the forum, and found it just as interesting to visit and lurk (and later on, participate) as it was actually playing SHIII.
