Interesting that on the Ubi store website, the game is named as
Silent HunterŽ: Wolves of the Pacific - PC DVD

The number '4' doesn't appear in the title. The pack shot of the retail box also has the title : Silent HunterŽ: Wolves of the Pacific

It's all a cunning plan to lull everyone into a false sense of security...:hmm:

Actually I have no idea why it's like that. But it doesn't bother me any really.

I noticed that on the box cover. Why it's that way, though, I have no idea.

Unless they're going to market it as a re-make of the original game, which I highly doubt.

Maybe because the real SH4 has been cancelled and they resell SH1 in a new box hoping we won´t notice....:rotfl:

Hey, if it plays on XP or even Vista, would that be so bad?

OW! Don't hit me again! OW! I promise I won't say it again! OW!

Considering how much I loved Silent Hunter when it first came out.

It's akin to how the third installment of the Battlefield series was released as Battlefield 2, not 3.

Maybe they for some odd reason suddenly felt really horrible about the quality of their first third games and decided to pretend they never existed:up:.

But then again, in the last teaser they say "Silent Hunter 4", don't they? They can't have changed the bloody name.

I'm sure there will be a patch to fix the title, Guys!I can picture the change-log:p.

"Fixed this bug, this glitch, this CTD, this haxx, and the fact that we forgot the name of the title. Oh, and it turns out it's not released by EA after all, but by Ubisoft. We fixed that, too, all EA logos gone from game".

[Just messin' with you, Ubi team. I'm sure you've got your reasons]

I´ve never tried it but maybe SH1 runs with Dos-Box, a small freeware dos-emulator specially designed for old games...

Cheers, AS

I got to pose with it once and practice shooting it three or four times...all 37 years ago.

It's not like I carry one around in my pocket.

"Is that a Browning M3 in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

Actually, Mae West said "banana", but the thought's still there.

"the return of Silent Hunter 4"

According to the latest packshot over at our friends http://www.marinesims.de/site/
the 4 is back on again.

Maybe our comments here prompted a rethink?

After having been absent for a long time and creeping out of the dark, may I ask when we are expecting SH4 to be released?

I would ask when are they going to release the Atlantic expansion, but that really would be ....... :nope:
