I noticed that this feature has ruined two campaigns of mine because when im going to load there is not one single save. Im using GWX does anyone noticed this?

I've done it quite some times, never found any trouble with mid-patrol save&exits...
Hope it doesn't happen to me now, as the patrol I've just saved has 29000 tons of merchants sunk and a southampton light cruiser I got in a convoy attack in the roughest of the seas...

I have never run across this problem. Are you sure you're giving your saves a name when you exit, and clicking "OK" instead of "Cancel"?

Playing Patched Vanilla...
This happened to me once... I started up SHIII the next day & my entire career was gone... Poof... I was told at the time that it was a glitch w/ the original SHIII. Hasn't happened since though..

It is a glitch with the stock game, GWX has nothing to do with it. I just had this problem the other day. The only way I was able to solve it was to go into C:\My Documents and Settings\<Logged on user name>\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers and rename the carrer folder in question. You then have to leave it that way and all the saves will be back (provided the .SAV files are in there in the first place).

Never happened to me but just in case I always make two saves when I exit game : one normal "save" function , then "continue" to get back in game, then make a second with "save and exit".

You only have to rename the career folder? Not the saves names to?

As an insurance precaution you can always minimise your game and check the folder to see that your saves are being written/accepted :hmm:

The problem is they are there in the my documents folder but simply wont show up in the game load screen.

Correct, just the folder name.

I remember the "war has finished"-bug, from a long time ago...not sure if it's related, but here is the fix:
You need to go into your save files (in your "My Documents" folder, eg: "My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\<yourcareername>\) and look for the two files in your career called: "Careers.cfg" and "careers_0.cfg" .Open those files with notepad (or anyother document viewing program) then find the lines that read:
Finished=true
WarOver=true
...find these lines in both .cfg file and change them so they read:
Finished=false
WarOver=false

If the folder is called for example 'SH3' rename it 'SH3X' then put it in...then when it looks like everything is okay...give it the original name again:yep:
It's worked for me before :up:

I've tried giving it the original name again and always end up losing the saves again so I just left it at what I renamed it. Then I ended up deleting the career anyways and started a new one and have yet to have the same problem ;)

Weird...I thought this was fixed a long time ago.
Anyway, glad it helped.

Yeah, same thing here. Couldn't rename it BACK to what I wanted, then, for a different reason, ended up deleting it and haven't have a problem since.

Don't know if this helps you or not, but I've never ran across this particular bug.
I always save my game via the "save" function, then hit "save and exit", and type in the same save name as the first save... when it asks if I want to overwrite it, I just simply hit "cancel", at which point it dumps me to the patrol summary screen, and I can exit normally.
This also keeps SH3Commander from saying that the patrol has ended 'cause my captain was lost at sea, simply because I abandoned the patrol.

Never come across this problem. Also, my cfg files already say Finished=False WarOver=false
