I have went on patrols and used up all ammo and stopped at a nearby base to refuel and resupply the ship and when I save it i said dock at that base but when I start the mission again from there I am still empty? How do you resupply yourself without going all the way back to point of orgin.:ping:
Welcome to the forum.
Where did you try and dock, in what year and what mods are you useing?

thanks I figured out on how to dock at the base . I haven't run into a milk cow yet. I have went by a neutral base it was green so I thought but then they fired at me? I was dazed and shocked I never expected that from a green colored base.:damn:
You must have sunk a ship of that country.

The neutral countries would inter military equipment and men. They were not always welcoming to warships hanging out in their ports.

Was it an american base??? I had gone to a US base before they enter the war and they gave me the full gun salute. Spanish, Portugese, Turkish and other bases are OK though.

Hi and welcome. If you calculate your journey and think you will need to re-fuel then press F1 and search for 'Re-supply info'; this will give you the location of a re-supply vessel ['milk cow'] and the dates it will be there.
The date is 22/09/1939 and the time is 10:02. I am at Las Palmas within 200 meters of the Corrientes. When I press the escape key, I see options, save, continue and exit but nothing that indicates a docking option. Selecting exit just takes me out of the patrol. Am I missing something? Do I need another mod?
BTW, the Corrientes looks dead. No signs of a crew on board and there are no markings to confirm that it actually is the Corrientes.
Running SHIII 1.4 (out of the box) with GWX 3.0
Thanks

You should see return to home base, I forget the actual wording.

i think you first option to take after pressing escape is
End patrol
then bottom left you will get Dock at Corrientes
least I think that's how it should go.

Yes - when you "dock" at resupply ship, the game considers it the end of your patrol. So the procedure to get out of the game at that point is exactly the same - you have to click the same things you would click to exit the patrol and dock at your home base.
When you do this, you will see the option to "Dock at Corrientes" (or whatever location you're stopping over at) and the game will do an auto-save for the "end" of that patrol. When you reload the game it will show you preparing to start your next patrol from the resupply ship.
And, yeah, it will look dead but don't let that fool you. They'll see you sorted right enough.
When you dock at a milk cow your next mission will be to travel from NULL to Home Port. At a milk cow you can still give crew any awards or promotions they earned, but can't make any changes on the ship; and you get reloaded with all steam torpedo's with no no option to take any electric's or special ones.

I docked with a resupply ship for the first time yesterday- the Thalia at Cadiz. I just got myself about 300m from the ship, exited the patrol and had the option to 'Dock at Thalia'. Job done.
Okay, maybe it's because I'm a newbie but I'm still not seeing a dock option. Here is what I do see.
I press escape and my options are OPTIONS, SAVE, CONTINUE and EXIT PATROL.
I select EXIT PATROL.
I then am asked if I want to ABANDON MISSION and I select YES.
Next is the Mission Results screen which shows the objectives status and mission summary. I can either CONTINUE MISSION or RETURN TO BASE.
Selecting CONTINUE puts me back where I was with no change in status.
If I select RETURN TO BASE, this takes me to the Single Mission screen and I can either select SINGLE MISSIONS, SAVED MISSIONS or go back to the Main Menu screen.
Selecting SAVED MISSIONS puts me back to where I was with no change in status.
Soooooo, am I totally overlooking something? Is the GWX 3 mod sufficient to do this?
Thanks

Thanks and not regular patrol mission... :hmm2:
If by SP you mean single player mode then yes. Does docking require multiplayer mode?

If you're getting an option to ABANDON MISSION, it sounds like you're playing a single mission rather than in career mode.
IIRC, when you're in single mission mode you don't have the same options when you select EXIT PATROL. Selecting a single mission to play means you've gone out on one single patrol with a specific objective. When you decide to end the patrol, the mission is over (whether you achieved the objective or not); if you select Abandon Mission, your only options are to confirm the Abandon Mission order by returning to base (which ends that gaming session until you reload a mission or career) or belay that order and continue on the same mission.
It's not an open-ended situation like career mode, where you go out on one patrol after another and "docking" is just a break between two of them.
My apologies, the directions I was giving assumed you were in career mode.

No apology needed. You helped a newbie. I can't ask for more. I'll give career mode a try.
Thanks to everyone for the assist.

If you're going to give career mode a try, and don't have SH3 Commander yet, consider adding it to your SH3 experience. It will make managing your crew and career a whole lot more interesting and immersive plus give you some extra options for your gameplay.
There's a stickied thread near the top of the Mods Workshop forum for the latest version.
Single missions can be great fun, though, if you want to test out new mods or just fire up the game for a couple hours of fun "on the side" instead of loading your current career patrol.

In a single mission I don't think you get an option to dock anywhere - it doesn't play out as a "patrol" in the same sense as when you're in career mode. With some of the missions you don't even start at a base, the game loads with you already at sea in whatever location is relevant to the mission you selected.
So when you're ready to stop playing, you can either continue the mission and remain at sea, or you can abandon it by "returning to base" - which just means you go back to the menu and your playing session is over.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you're asking.
SP refers to "single player" mode, I think?
I was talking about the differences between single mission mode and career mode, both with a single player - not about single player vs multi-player, about which I know nothing. :DL
