A chill in the air, A few flakes on the ground.
A kazoo in the distance, holiday cheer all around.
They rush to head out, put the old year to bed.
Visions of nooky dance in their heads.

Step up to the rail, place your order with glee.
one down, then two down, before you know it, count three.
The bright lights and loud sounds all add to their fun
each guy spots a girl he just knows is the one.

The boys are all strutting, posturing for position.
trying to look manly in a manly tradition.

The girls, now the girls need do nothing at all
for their charms are self evident, it's natures best call.
The thick ones and thin ones the shy and the vexing,
after three or four drinks they are all just as sexy.

The hour grows near as the minutes tick by.
at this time of night each girl has her guy.
The crowd swells with joy as the year, it grows short.
just enough left to put down one last snort.

Soon it has come, the new year at last.
let's throw out tradition, lets break with the past.
A smile or a wink, a light touch is all
a message received, let's answer the call.

Scrambling and shuffling in a hurry they go
out the front steps and into the snow.
Unlock the doors, start up the engine
locked in embrace, they drop all pretention.

Look left then look right, now pull out in the flow
nothing to worry about he knows he can go.
Anticipation is rising, hearts beating like hell
this night will break records they both can tell.

Looks full of passion and promise and love
are rapidly trounced by someone above.
A loud hiss of air, a cloth bag in their faces
the belts both snap tight locking them in their places.

The blaring of horns and the tinkle of glass.
Leads both to believe they just stuffed a cop in the ass!

Being someone that enforces the 'drink-driving' legislation and seeing first hand the unnecessary carnage that can result makes me wish more people could read this post before going out in the UK this evening :yep:

You are soooo right. This is one of my hot buttons.
Actually I was a collision shop mgr for many years then an insurance field appraiser for the last 4 or 5. The mayhem out there on the roads, especially on new years weekend, is unbelievable. personally, from seeing literally thousands of alcohol related accidents the innocent people that get hit by the drunk drivers seem to fare far worse than the morons who cause the accidents. Another one is drunk wacko's firing into the air-no one ever told these clowns what goes up must come down. Unfortunately sometimes on other people.

Cheers!

Prost Neu Jahr Kaleuns! May your torpedoes travel straight, hot, and normal, and go boom more often than not. May the Britischer scum tremble at the thought of facing you, and...may Bernard finally be put up against a wall and shot. LOL

I only play SHIII when im drunk...Thats hard enough.. Drunk-driving is for loosers.. If they cant plan their evening so they dont have to use the car,
they should stay home watching TV instead. Alcohol + vehicles = :nope:

Meh..of course we all know drunk driving is bad. Here's another cool song. Makes me think of the ships sunk during Drumbeat--or about the sailors who spent their life on that coast. Whatever, I'm drunk, Happy New Year. It's a great song--and yea, it's a bit of a love song. I love it. Love + ocean = me like.

Sent out an SOS call
It was a quarter past four in the morning
When the storm broke our second anchor line
Four months at sea
Four months of calm seas
To be pounded in the shallows off the tip of Montauk Point

They call them rogues
They travel fast and alone
One-hundred-foot faces of God's good ocean gone wrong
What they call love is risk
'Cause you always get hit out of nowhere
By some wave and end up on your own

The hole in the hull defied the crew's attempt
To bail us out
Flooded the engines and radio
Half-buried bow

Your tongue is a rudder
It steers the whole ship
Sends your words past your lips
Keeps them safe behind your teeth
But the wrong will strand you
Come off course while you sleep
Sweep your boat out to sea
Or dashed to bits on the reef

The vessel groans
The ocean pressures its frame
To the port I see the lighthouse
Through the sleet and the rain
And I wish for one more day
To give my love and repay debts
The morning finds our bodies washed up thirty miles west

They say that the captain stays fast with the ship
Through still and storm
But this ain't the Dakota
And the water's cold
Won't have to fight for long

(This is the end)
This story's old but it goes
On and on until we disappear
(This is the calm)
Calm me and let me taste the
Salt you breathed while you were underneath
(We are drowning)
I am the one who haunts your
Dreams of mountains sunk below the sea
(After the storm)
I spoke the words but never
Gave a thought to what they all could mean
(Wrecked in the deep)
I know that this is what you want
A funeral keeps both of us apart
(Washed up on the beach)
You know that you are not alone
I need you like water in my lungs
(This is the end)
This story's old but it goes
On and on until we disappear
(This is the calm)
Calm me and let me taste
The salt you breathed while you were underneath
(We are impressive)
I am the one who haunts your
Dreams of mountains sunk below the sea
(After the storm)
I spoke the words but never
Gave a thought to what they all could mean
(Wrecked in the deep)
I know that this is what you want
A funeral keeps both of us apart

We are not serious about drunk driving. I was on ER duty one night on New Year's Eve and received 11 from a double drunk driving "accident". Five dead, two more died in ER, one brain dead, one 40% burns (face and upper body), two young children with various severe injuries and orphaned. My suggestions for DUI: 1) Mandatory six months in jail for first offense; five year for second; twenty five for third. 2) Confiscate the involved automobile or truck. 3) Fine the involved bar or restaurant one week's gross receipts, or the involved host one week's gross pay. I suspect this plan would cut drunk driving by close to 100%
