I just encountered HMS Nelson, the first time I've ever come across a capital ship in SH3 :rock:During my second patrol in 1939, I was hanging about Halifax and found this beast lurking within an approaching convoy. Stuck six torps into it and claimed my 36000 tonnes :D Was a beautiful sight
I assume this is GWX's doing  Does anyone know any other areas and times to watch out for, I'd love to find some more monsters ... Also, will that remove Nelson from the game or will it just regenerate?

Six torps? Are u using a XXI? Early in 1939?

A VIIB, wasn't too pleasant waiting for the reloads, but the first four went out at 2600m so I had some time and luckily a good officer in at my forward tubes

The GWX has a multitude of good areas and times. The imersion factor in finding them is partly what makes this game so appealing
The Nelson along with any other warship or merchant will re-spawn once you are approx in excess of 50km away :arrgh!:

You could sink her again but you won't get no credit for and a waste of fish.

It's a shame it respawns, if I encounter it again I'll just bugger off and pretend I never saw it  I'd never taken anything like that on before, so I just got off 6 torps and prepared my escape as there were two Destroyer's lurking, could've used those 3 extra torps on tankers but Nelson looked a total beast :D
I'm half way through my third patrol now and I managed to add a Southampton class to my list of scalps :D I'd never seen any of these larger warships in maybe 70 patrols in normal SH3, GWX is class

I doubt if the Admiralty feel that way :rotfl:

HMS Rodney just now as well :arrgh!:Only used four torps this time
I came across a small, defenceless convoy of 2 tankers and a large merchant, large cargo and Tramp Steamer, with all my deck gun rounds in perfect weather, but all of them were Irish and neutral  That kind of dampened my spirits though. I came across another new ship though, a Whale Factory boat, zapped that as well :)
I managed to find HMS Hood in plymouth harbour had to go in at night a creep over a net to get at her though 46000 t all for 3 torps and a game of hide and seek with 3 destroyers who were after my blood :arrgh!: Awesome
I have seen Nelson and Rodney in a TF that heads directly south along the west coast of Ireland. I have seen this taskforce 3 times so far while hunting around the BE39 area.
This TF has the two bbs, and 4 other warships of varous size.

Yeah, for me Rodney was following a similar course, heading directly south having followed the Irish west coast, though she was in a regular convoy guarded by two Black Swan's
Just spotted Hood and Nelson together with 2 french destroyers heading North in the irish sea I was bingo on fuel and Torps though so i had to run away. Not Impressed .
I have got to say i never had this many encounters in the stock SHIII....or for that matter that many holes in my boat either

Be more aggressive....ram the buggas  :arrgh!:
 AYE AYE Sir Full Speed Ahead
As an aside i have just found an interesting glitch whilst shadowing said convoy i was spotted by Hood which promptly opened up on me however between my boat and Hood was 1 of the french destroyers which was promptly blown out of the water. having then saved my game i managed to place myself in between hood and nelson who then proceeded to kick 7 bells out of each other whilst trying to hit me before i died i had the pleasure of seeing a nautical case of fragicide.:hmm: i might have to try this again as on reloading i was given credit for sinking the destroyer.

june 1940, still no big warship seen, and I hope to keep it that way..
fuhrers orders are to sink supply ships.. I stay away from everything that shoots.
:arrgh!: Taking on the warships is part of fun i was getting bored just taking out merchies so now i make a point of trying to kill the escorts first if you can the payoff in renown can be quite good :arrgh!:
