Saddam Hussein only has hours left ...
What would you do ...?
What would you think ... ?
If you only had hours of your life left ...
Wreak havoc!!
BTW, if they are on time, Saddam is dead by now.
Due to suspected liver failure I have been in a situation where I was told I only had a few months to live at most.
Every morning I had a blood test and every evening I got a number back. If the number went below a certain level then my liver had failed and I was to die (there was no hope of a transplant). That number had already been passed. If the number went below the next line then I was probably already dead.
I was told there was almost no hope of survival.
Its very strange to look in to the next month and see an eternity.
The time I had alone, I spent preparing my self. I needed a lot of that.
In the time time spend with friends I found my self feeling strangely benevolent to everyone.
I never got the feeling that I had missed out on anything, despite being young at the time.
Its terrifying, but you have no choice other than accepting it. If it was a execution instead of ilness I don't think my mind would have accepted it. I think that would make things a lot harder.
I spent 4 days in which it was believed that my liver had failed before the number started creeping up again. Fortunately I made a almost complete recovery.

when you don't have any time left, you try to do what you can for those that you really care about.

He looked very calm on tv before he was executed, I think he had been preparing himself for the year previous to the time he was hanged. He must have known that he would never be allowed to live.

I wouldnt know what a despot would be thinking...I can only imagine.
It makes me wonder what he thought about when he gassed his own people.(Kurds)
I wonder if he thought about his rape and torture rooms.
I wonder if he thought of all the horrible things he did.
I wonder now if his religious beliefs were correct. Im sure he knows.

I'd be quite surprised if he considered them to be his own people. Over there, I think the group of "own people" is mostly limited to relatives. And he wasn't known for being overly religious either.
Fortunately I made a almost complete recovery.
You did?
Tell us more please.

Well, apparently livers are good at recovering from most kinds of damage if they don't fail. (if they fail they stop working all together)
I had to take vitamins on a drip for a couple of months and then tablets for a few weeks, but with in a few months I could go to the pub etc.
Ive just got a list of drugs I can't take now and I've been advised not to get too pissed.

I'd come here and berate the collective forum one last time. Then, I'd die in the classic Lorne Greene pose from Battlestar Galactica. Best...death....ever.....

I would bribe Abraham into sending me some Duvel, Trappist XX, and perhaps some Gulden Drak.. and then quietly slip away into obscene beligerence!
Last thing before I die?
Usually it's blowing the ballast again.

Do you really think he could get that stuff to you out in SoCal in the few hours you have left? :D
Seriously i'd spend the time talking and calling those who are close to me to say goodbye.

I would never refer to this lovely as a 'what' but, damn:o.

Failing that (and I would fail:oops:) the usual, say good by to loved ones, and probably make some phonecalls to the states with all the 'watch words' that the NSA/FBI etc are listening for. Try and watch them come after me.:rotfl:
Carry on :D

We said, " A few hours left ... not a few days"
I hope I never know I have just hours left...
In fact I wish to avoid the whole "I'm sick and dieing" routine.
I don't believe I could go through all the crap that comes with knowing your death is just around the bend.
I have an agreement with my family doctor. If I have some disease that's gonna break the bank and leave my family holding the bag... then do not tell me... just let me think all is well... that way I will just go till I can't go no more, then die in the Caribbean and have my sack of guts pushed overboard and a pint poured over me.
A fitting end to this wayward life.:|\\

He did look kind of calm ... Maybe it was his twin ...
How much time did he have after the Marines turned
him over, anyway?
Luke 9
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 15
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Death is the one thing that was never meant to be...and will be defeated in the end by LIFE.
What would I do if I knew death was eminent ?....Death is eminent. Perfect love is not made perfect in one who fears, and the only reason to fear death for me would be if I did not know for sure was was on the other side....but I do.
Let the dead bury the dead...indeed.

Yeah that's cool and I believe...but... can I just float away on the tide??:sunny:
To me it depends more on the manner of death. And to be honest, the biggest wish for me would be having no clue as to when and how I'd actually die - and if I did, provided I could get over it quickly enough - maintain normalcy (or at least casual-ness) as far as possible, which for me is as exciting as life needs to be. If anything, I'd spend the time writing down, in as much detail as I can, any ideas and outlines for stories that I had in mind but which I never had a chance to finish.
In the event of nuclear war I want to die in a blast, screw burns and radiation sickness. :88)
