what mod makes you have to traverse Gibralta when tranferring to the Med in a career? if any? Instead of just popping up in port at LA Spiezia----- -:88) --(noobish)---
If not, why not?

No mod does that.
Reasons:
Hardcoded game behavior.

Bummer Can we somehow get it in a carrer? I guess tranverse Gib first than transfer to LaSpezia? As long as the transfer is approved I guess that would be ok:up:
maybe a radio message sending u boat there once there transfer---The DAS BOOT CARREER
I dont know how radio meaasges work but maybe set the messages on certain days so if your sailin on one of those days you get sent to the med?

The trouble is you can only apply for transfer in your home port
Then the game warps you there

Only way to really do it, i think, is if you scripted a flotilla and moved it there. Similar to GWX's implentation of the 10th flotilla.

Hey Ducimus
Is it not possible to add any more flotillas then ?

I don't think its possible to create ADDITIONAL flotilla's. You can rewrite the existing (six?) ones however you want to though.
So if you wanted to have a das bootish med career game, you could take the 23rd/29th/ flotilla in GWX, and make it start earlier. You could technically make it start in La Rochelle, make the time it stays at that base like a couple weeks (i think, i dont remember if it only worked by months, if so then just 1 month), give the player med grid coords, then move the base to Sallimis (sp) while the player is at sea.

I remeber when sh3 was in devolopment and they mentioned that they would'nt make the traverse threw GIB except single mission sounded ok at the time but I do think it's a big part of war realisticly BDU sent a lot of boats threw there glad to see i am not alone in thinkin this-- anything i can do to help let me know:sunny:

Well, we would certainly like to do exactly that. The problem is coding it as BBW mentions above.
The transfer process does not allow for players sailing to their new base... it simply automatically warps you to the new base.

Travel to la spezia in the med, but donīt enter in port, finish your patrol before.
the game teleport you to your home port, and you can request a transfer to the med.
start the career in la spezia (where you were before finish the career)

Well I'll tell you what happens if you got the Seawolves mod installed - Battle in the Mediterranean Expansion. If you are on Atlantic patrol in late -41 with a type VIIC you will receive a message about a transfer to La Spezia, just as some of the real boats like the famous Das Boot U-96. You don't have to accept the mission, but if so you have to plan your dangerous way into the Mediterranean.
I bought these mods and I like them, nice add ons for SH3. Now don't anyone hit me because of that, cuz I can bite ;)

without 100% realism once in the med exit patrol transfer to la spezia?
There are no mods that will take care of this due to the way resupply and your home base is handled.
Another hack/method is described here:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=90997
which leads you here:

Good luck.

Careful guys :nope: IIRC the end result was a failure :yep:

This sounds great!!! can it be done?

That's why I wished him luck. From my understanding this method would be fraught with danger and as usual backups would need to be taken of all files edited to avoid time consuming reinstallations.

...im a picky bugger...
Yes you are.
You're also right. Getting transferred as the war progressed was one of the fun parts of SH1.
They should have included active transfers.
And better weather.
And a bunch of other stuff. (Still love what they did though)

The more you get to know SH3 the more you see how perfectly some parts where done and how badly other bits where left.
