I am new to these forums, and I would like to say you have quite an impressive volume of information. My question concerns running SHIII on a notebook computer. The computer is an E1505 Inspiron equipped with a 1.83Ghz Intel Core Duo processor, 1GB DDR2 533mhz dual channel system ram and a 256mb Geforce Go 7300 Turbocache video card. I was wondering if running SHIII on a notebook causes any graphical difficulty or system instabilty. I am considering purchasing the sim and am checking first if it will run reliably.
thnks

Hi mate, and welcome! I think it should run just fine on your rig.

I personally tried running vanilla SHIII on my own noteboook. These were the system specs:

Acer Travelmate 4200
- Processor - Intel Centrino Duo 1.66 Ghz
- RAM - DDR2 1024 MB, 533 Mhz (?)
- Video Card - Intel 950
- Windows XP Home

I experienced a very slow frame rate, very slow loading times, and graphical errors. With GWX, I experienced faster loading times, and I believe the graphics actually loaded better as well. However, I am not sure how this would compare to your system. Your video card sounds a lot better than mine, at any rate.

I play SH3 on my Acer Travelmate 8104 when I'm on the road. Specs are:
Pentium M 760 @ 2Ghz, 1Gig DDR2 533, ATI mobility radeon x700 128Mb, 15.4" WSXGA + TFT LCD.
Works great although get slowdowns in port with harbour traffic mod.

Hi, and welcome!

Lots of kaleuns run SH3 on way slower pc`s, so just go for it.

IT should work perfect, as your RAM and display card is much higher than the one stated in system requirment

Aye your video card is an onboard one, which aka means it is largely not meant for gaming. It's designed around word processing, web surfing, and basic multimedia.

To the OP: You should do just fine mate with what you posted.

@ Cpt. Stewker - Yes, I still have an onboard card. I haven't upgraded any part of my laptop at all, as it's primary purpose is not for gaming. When I am at home instead of at university, I use my best desktop for high-end games but for months at a time I stuck with the laptop so maybe I should upgrade it later. Probably won't though.

Anyway, I doubt that simfan or anyone else here would have the same level of trouble running SHIII on a laptop/notebook as I have. Just posting my experiences for consideration.:yep:

My own experience:

Acer Aspire 5622WLMi
Intel duo procesor, 1.66GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon X1300
1GB DDR2 RAM

Very slow load times with GWX (I experienced decent load times in vanilla version), but the game itself runs very very smooth once loaded. In harbors with heavy traffic I get somewhat low FPS but still more than enough to make the game perfectly playable.

So, simfan, with your system I think you'll do ok :).
