Damnnit. This is so frustrating! I installed new drivers yesterday after I got a BSOD when playing SH3 (with GWX). I had started a thread about it, and it was recommended to upgrade to the latest drivers. I have a Radeon RX700-Pro. I load SH3 up today and when it gets to the loading screen the monitor goes dark. I wait until I hear the menu music and then Alt + Tab out of the game. The picture comes back. If I go back into the game the monitor goes dark again. I then load Age of Empires III to see if it is a SH3 issue. Nope. When that game gets to the loading screen, it goes blank too. I again Alt + Tab out of it. I load Dangerous Waters up and it loads fine and I can exit fine. The latest drivers are 6.12 I think. Can anyone help?:damn::damn:

On the BSOD there will be error codes etc, take a note of them and you will be able to reference them on microsoft support.

Well, right now the BSOD is irrelevant. It was the reason I updated the drivers. Now I can't even play a game (say for DW). Otherwise, the monitor blanks out and I can't see anything. I've got to wait for the game to load and then Alt + Tab out of it to close it. :damn::damn:

Try the following... Remove the driver, also the Catalyst Control Center. Then install the December build of DirectX 9:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1321

After that install the "NGO ATI Optimized Driver v1.6.12" instead of the standard Catalyst 6.12:

Thanks Gizzmoe! I'll try it. Wish me luck. :-?

Use Driver Cleaner Pro after you remove the drivers, then reinstall them.

I did as you said Gizzmoe and it didn't work. I get this error everytime I start Windows now:

Also, everytime I start Windows now, the resolution is set back to 640x480. The little balloon pops up saying my monitor's resolution is set to low and to let it set it for me. Does using Driver Cleaner Pro require me to use Safe Mode at all? Because my computer will BSOD when trying to enter safe mode. Been doing that forever. Reinstalling Windows never helped, either. Is there a free version of Driver Cleaner available?

I get this error everytime I start Windows now:

That error message comes from AVG anti virus.

Theoretically, yes. Since you canīt do that uninstall the driver again, then run Driver Cleaner in "normal" mode.

Is there a free version of Driver Cleaner available?

That's coming from AVG? That's strange. :-?

I did as you suggested again, Gizzmoe with no real results. I uninstalled the drivers then ran the Driver Cleaner program. I had it remove everything in the list for ATI. I then installed the official drivers. The monitor still goes blank when entering SH3, AoE III, and Rome: Total War. Would you have an idea why the display doesn't go blank for Dangerous Waters? I do appreciate the help you have given me, Gizzmoe. Computers are startin to stress me out and I went with the official drivers again just for ease of mind. However, as I said, the NGO drivers did the same thing.:-?

Try an older driver then. Here you find previous ATI drivers:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonxprevious-xp.html

Try 6.5 first, thatīs a version were ATI hasnīt made the drastic driver changes yet. That started with 6.6.

Have a look here http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894 and try the manual removal route.

After the removal, try the Omega drivers.

I uninstalled the 6.12 drivers. I then rebooted and ran the Driver Cleaner utility. The previous 6.5 drivers don't come as a suite like the current drivers. I downloaded the display driver and the CCC. I installed the display driver then rebooted. I then installed the CCC, but upon reboot it is as if it never installed. It doesn't appear in the system tray. If I right-click the desktop, click Properties, Settings, then the Advanced button there is no sign of the CCC. I'm not sure if that process is another way to get to it or not, just thought I would mention it. For some reason, because the CCC doesn't appear to be installed, AVG Antivirus is barking at me with that error message I posted above. But anyway, SH3 was able to load properly with the 6.5 display driver.

Edit: Nevermind about the CCC thing. I made a collossal bonehead move. A mistake so stupid I'm not gonna mention it.:lol:
