GWX just love it! Question though...

Any Kaleuns out there tried using SH3 Generator with GWX yet?

I used to use it all the time with GW 1.1 but am wary of using it with GWX yet.

Thing is I miss those Intel reports.

I'm going along with GWX as it came, to see what it gives us before adding in other mods.

It could be that other mods are superfluous.

I am going to do a few patrols with no other mods, so that I can say I have experienced GWX.

It is too early for many to be able to know what works or doesn't. Even the GW team, since they weren't trying to make it compatible with others, just working.

Haven't used it personally but am reliably informed they are both compatable. :yep:

SH3Gen is perfectly fine to use with GWX.

Can anyone briefly describe what SH3 Gen does??

LF, ShIII Gen gives you locations of enemy shipping on yur nav map. It doesn't always mean there's something there but it can happen.

Yep SH3Gen is fully compatible with GWX.

SH3Gen does work with GWX...albeit it does create a bit of "drag" on performance because of the added map info and flavor bits.

Did you have this 'problem' with SH3Gen in GW 1.1a?? If not then I cannot understand why it is making the game slow. As a rule of thumb GWX plays exactly the same as GW 1.1a in the same PC.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a problem...more of a "notation". I noticed it in GW1.1 as well.

I know it's not a broblem that's why I used ' '. I would call it unfortunate event;) If you had this....'unfortunate event' in GW 1.1a then it makes sence that you're seeing it in GWX. That probably means you have a low spec machine (either low RAM or low CPU), so I would suggest you use the little harbour mod to make your life easier.

Nope.. I have a high spec machine. I built it. It's set up for graphic hungry sims.

Never had any slow down with it.

It doesn't JUST give you the placement of enemy vessels (you can actually rate the intel that it gives you on ship from reliable to unreliable). The flavor that SH3 Gen adds makes it priceless and it's BIGGEST thing is that it gives you actual missions to go on. Now understand you will not recieve any renown for completing them or any sort of completed status but it still beats the go to so and so square and return home. Now you are ordered to infiltrate ememy harbors, do recon, attempt to locate an enemy vessel with given intel, or 20 some other possible missions all with different parameters and locals.

And like I mentioned, the flavor text that comes with each patrol is what makes this another unique find. You know how the captains log only has a few lines on it at the beginning of the patrol? Well SH3 Gen adds PAGES of information. Here's an example from my latest patrol.

Patrol 4
U-45, 7th/13th Flotilla
Left at: December 31, 1939, 07:14
From: Kiel
Mission Orders: Patrol grid BF44

---Mission---

Primary Patrol Area: Biscaya

Sneak into Portland and attack the enemy ships there. Try to leave
Portland undetected, and avoid unnecessary risks during this mission.

---Standing Operational Orders for all U-Boats---

English Channel is closed due to risk of mines, route now abandoned.
U-boats are to transit North Sea to access Atlantic. Torpedo
Directorate defect advice. Torpedoes running deeper than set by
2m. Deduct this amount for impact firing setting.

Führer authorises on-sight sinking of all enemy passenger liners
known or seen to be armed, all tankers, including neutrals, except
American or allies of Germany, which are beyond all doubt going
to or from Britain or France.

Führer orders, all tankers, other than US, Russian, Japanese,
Italian, and Spanish may be attacked in the US Safety Zone West
of 2°E. Tanker cargo is of particular importance to the enemy
war effort & is now classified absolute contraband.

When attacking neutral tankers, U-boats to remain unobserved to
avoid political repercussions. Attacks may be made without warning
on all liners identified as hostile, with visible armament. U-boat
safety takes precedence over safety of survivors.

Unconditional contraband carried in neutral ships about to pass
through the English Channel is to be regarded as bound for an
enemy destination, as these ships are obliged to call at English
control ports.

Since Greece has chartered & sold numerous ships to England, her
ships are to be considered hostile within the operational area
surrounding Britain. U-boats must try to remain unobserved while
attacking.

---Intelligence Report---

Marine Intelligence has information
about the following enemy bases:

Greenrock:
Neutrals

Thames Estuary:
Troop Transport
Merchants
Neutrals

Dover:
Warships
Troop Transport
Merchants
Neutrals

Marine Intelligence has information
about the following enemy units:

Suspected in Thames Estuary:
Transporter 'Bulkcrude'

Suspected in Dover:
Light Cruiser 'Fiji'
Transporter

---General Situation---

During the next two months, intensified ship concentration
is expected in the following areas:

Western Approaches:
Warships
Single Merchants
Neutrals

Biscaya:
Warships

North Sea:
Destroyers
Single Merchants
Neutrals

Baltic:
Neutrals

Concentration of enemy merchant traffic is expected in
the following areas:

Single Shipping:
Quadrant AM
Quadrant BF

---Patrol Log---

Ship sunk!
Grid AN 14
Large Merchant, 11747 tons

Ship sunk!
Grid AN 15
Tramp Steamer, 1969 tons

So yeah in other words, I don't see why not use it. SH3 Gen is as much a must have mod as say, GWX is. And if the Intel part really turns you off, you can turn that part off! :)

I use it with GWX works just fine on an Optimal system.

@ Cpt. Stewker

Agreed with you, this is the most interesting part of SH3 Gen...

Cheers for all the response Guys.

I'll be booting up SH3 Gen on my next patrol.

I really agree with what Cpt. Stewker says, SH3 Gen adds so much flavour and you can't argue with good intel.

I have used SH3Gen for awhile and just noticed the added mission. I was sent up to Scapa for my grid patrol and SH3Gen requested I go to Dunkirk and sink and merchants in the harbour. My Type II didnt have enough fuel to do both. I blamed the horrible weather.
